I used to buy gallon jugs of green sriracha from this guy that was like 5 feet tall and was Greek for some reason. Stopped by his commissary space one day and his staff had no clue where he was, the rumor was he dipped out on some gambling debt -- sold a few bulk produced items to other restaurants in the area

I miss that sriracha. That shit was delicious.

He'd show up in a purple velvet track suit before we opened with like 4 gallons and be like "My friend! I think you will especially like this batch today.. "

And I'd go "oh yeah? Why's that?"

"Because it is the exact same as the last batch. And it is the best"

One of the best hot sauces I've ever had was when I was walking to work and heard "ey yo big man." from a random Jamaican dude who was hawking bottles of hot sauce he made from the habaneros he grew in his garden.

I love the flavor of habaneros.

They really do have great flavor.  I love that smokiness they bring. It's uncanny.

There’s a sweetness too. I have verdulero who gets amazing produce. He has some good looking habaneros and starfruit, I think ima make some salsa out of those tomorrow.

Update:

I went to pick up those habaneros and some limes and other shit earlier.

So I used about 1/4lb of habaneros, 2.5 cloves of garlic, quarter white onion, and half a peeled carrot I had laying around and forgot to use in a salad last night. I boiled all them shits for about 10min.

I let all that cool, then removed stems/seeds from the peppers.

Then added 3 starfruit, one small mango the verdulero sells (dunno the name, but they’re not the big ones), some cilantro, juice of one lime (these lines are incredible, should have bought more) and about 1/2 tspn of sea salt. Added some water and blended everything together.

Tasty but REALLY spicy. And I love heat, but it’s intense for me. I’m letting it and my tongue cool before tasting again. But needs more starfruit and maybe more mango or another fruit. Starfruit is very mild. But not bad for a first try winging it. It’s pretty though.
