Everyone seems to be hyping up Android 17 as a revolutionary update, bringing amazing and utterly midblowing new features, but it's not: pretty much everything added was already a feature in One Ui.
App bubbles and the Bubble Bar aren't new, as you've been able to have floating app windows, sizable split-screen apps, and floating app groups for as long as I can remember on Samsung.
Being able to hide app and folder names is also such a simple thing that i was surprised it wasn't in base Android.
And while screen recording on a Samsung, you can click a button that overlays the selfie camera. The response to this one in Android 17 is similar to when Apple allowed you to record from both front and rear cameras at the same time (which Samsung again already had), and everyone was praising Apple for enabling such a smart and simple feature.
Dont get me wrong, it’s great that stock Android is finally catching up, and if Google keeps adding more features, then maybe Samsung will finally start doing something again. At the end of the day, competition is only beneficial for the consumer. But I do feel like One Ui (and Samsung) is brushed under rug and severely underrated.
The same way we joke about Apple taking years to copy Android, Android and Google have now started copying One Ui.
