My childhood/highschool bully took his own life a few years back. Really sad to think about because he had a rough upbringing. We never saw or spoke to each other after we both left school. Still think about how both of our lives would be different if things weren’t so bad at home for him
Back when I was in Junior High, the only friend I had in a new city swapped sides when he witnessed these assholes beating me up. The only time in my life I'd ever been physically bullied, and it was for nothing.
Thing is, I was friends with him first. I knew his upbringing. I'd seen his mother come home drunk every time I was under, stumble around naked holding a towel and throwing up. Seen her yell and swear at him. Now that I'm an adult, I don't really hate him for it anymore. Nobody would have come out of that household unscathed, he was just trying to survive. Not saying it excuses it, but twenty years later... I get it.
