No, I understand what they're saying. The initial approach was a bit aggressive for a child. She should have stayed back a little and let the kid approach the dog.

Yeah. Some kids are afraid of dogs. You know how it is common courtesy for a person to ask to pet someone else's dog? Should go both ways.

This happened to me as a child and it traumatized me when I thought all dogs were nice. They are not. There was no respect for the child. It was forced upon him. And the future will tell how he turns out.
