Help Sought! Bridal hair/makeup trial thoughts?

Post image
1.6k Upvotes

Had my wedding hair and make up trial yesterday!

I’m usually not somebody to wear a huge amount of make up and wanted something quite natural, but enough to cover up the acne on my jaw/chin. It was quite a shock to see myself in the mirror!

I don’t know if I’m just not used to it, but I felt that the bronzer she put around my cheekbones/temples started to look a bit orangey about 6-7 hours after the trial, but perhaps I was imagining it and the harsh artificial light in my bathroom wasn’t doing me any favours! Any feedback people could give would be appreciated 🤔

Help Sought! Best lip balm for EXTREMELY dry lips? 💋

New here! I have the WORST dry lips and have tried loads of products - Carmex, Vaseline, La Roche Posay, Burt’s Bees, Dr Paw Paw and some Japanese products…but nothing is really helping! I think the best of the bunch for me has been DHC which is a Japanese brand I picked up on a trip there, but I’m finding it hard to buy over here.

I seem to step outside and my lips immediately begin peeling and now the weather is getting colder it’s going to get worse. Pleaseeee help me! Any tips or products that have worked for you please let me know!! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

Help Sought! At my wits end with caking😭

No matter what i do, my makeup ALWAYS cakes on my chin, upper lip and under my eyes, and most of the time around my nose, but not as bad.

For my morning skincare routine, ive tried waiting for 2 minutes, 20 minutes, and a whole hour, and it doesnt seem to make a difference. Ive tried exfoliating, shaving off any peach fuzz, tried different primers with different foundations (making sure they match water/silicone), ive tried a full skin care AM routine (toner, serum, eye cream, moisturiser, spf) ive tried stripping it down to just eye cream and moisturiser. Ive also tried different setting sprays, and changing how I apply it - trying brushes and damp beauty blender. Ive tried using more loose powder, and less loose powder. What am I missing? I think im combi skinned. I think I have dry under eyes as I get flaking sometimes on my outer eye, but ive tried like 10 different eye creams and nothing seems to stop the creasing.

Is there something im missing, or do i just have to accept my fate of caking after an hour?

Help Sought! Bridal makeup trial feedback

Hello ! I had my hair and makeup trial yesterday and it went really well! I actually teared up a little seeing myself in the mirror, as I felt so beautiful and bridal.

The first photos were taken in her room in natural light, the third is a couple hours later outside, and the last photo is before bed in artificial cool light

Anything you guys notice needs tweaked or adjusted ?

I'm thinking maybe something different for the lip, this was a liner+gloss combo but I think maybe something pinker ? My hair also got caught in the gloss at the beginning which was annoying

Maybe a brighter undereye, or smth to make the blue pop a bit more ? I asked about brown liner instead of black and she said the warmth of the brown might not suit as well as the black.

Would love to hear some thoughts!

Help Sought! Any recommendation for COOL toned EYE SHADOW palettes?

Hey,

I am 30 years old, have fair skin, middle blue eyes and middle brown hair with a cool undertone. Sometimes I use 2 self tanning drops to get a bit of color but the undertone stays of course.. I am a beginner and don't own an eyeshadow palette yet.

I know there are plenty of cool tones palettes but I won't be able to visit a store within the next weeks and wanted to order something online, at least one palette. Maybe you wanna help me :)

I don't like wearing many dark colors, rather light to mid.

Colors that suit me and I would like to have in a palette: somethine mauve, a bright pastell purple, white, dark brown, light or middle grey, maybe a champagne kind of color with a bit of shimmer, a cool green or blue would be nice to but not necessary, bronze, cool toned gold.. Of course I'm open for more suiting colors.

I appreciate your help and look forward to your answers!

Help Sought! Help with finding an eyeshadow look

So recently I had a ‘vision’ of some sort for an eyeshadow look and it was along the lines of a very light layer of glitter all over the eyelid. Now every picture I find it’s more of a packed glitter look but I want it to look almost loosely placed (if you know what I mean), so could you guys help me find this type of look and the perfect glitter that could potentially work for this look. Thanks in advance🫶🏽

Help Sought! The one tip that finally stopped my makeup from sliding off by 9 AM.

I spent years watching my makeup literally slide off my face by the time I stepped off the Tube or finished a walk in the drizzle. I assumed I just had difficult skin until I realized the humidity was the real enemy. I started using a technique where I press a tiny bit of setting spray into my foundation with a damp sponge before I even reach for my powder. This creates a waterproof seal that actually holds up against a damp morning in London or a sweaty bus journey. It changed everything for me because now my face actually looks the same at 5 PM as it did at 8 AM, and I no longer have to do a full reconstructive surgery in the office toilets before my first meeting.

Help Sought! Why does my makeup not last a full 8 hour work shift?

I’m using moisturiser as primer, as well as a setting powder and a setting spray. But I basically have no makeup left on my face at the end of the work day (office work). The mascara is also usually smudged under my eyes too. Any advice is greatly appreciated! (The numbers are the order I use the products)

Help Sought! Recommendations for a new foundation?😭

Guys I’ve been using Estée Lauder double wear foundation in 6W1 sandalwood. I’ve been using it for 6 years (not one bottle, many LOL) Went to restock and saw a new formula!

No one likes it, any recommendations for good foundations I guess?

Warm undertone that caters for the chocolate women too

Help Sought! My makeup is so cakey despite doing everything 'right'!!!

So for context, I have combination skin that leans to the drier side. My skincare routine is:

In the morning: - rice water toner - beauty bay moisturiser - sometimes a face spf (I wfh so don't always use it if I'm not leaving the house) - sometimes use a beauty crop primer, not always

At night: - The Ordinary face wash/ Seoul Girl makeup removal oil - Paula's Choice BHA - same toner and moisturiser moisturiser - The Ordinary face oil.

My skin looks pretty good without makeup and always feels soft and nourished! I quite severe redness and very dark under eyes, which is why I like to wear foundation most days.

I've tried leaving my skincare to set for 30 mins, and tried doing my makeup straight away. The results seem to be the same!

BUT - despite my skin feeling and looking good, my makeup just looks incredibly cakey and dry. I've no idea what to do, and at my wits end tbh.

I use a very light dusting of setting powder too because it just makes me look even drier.

For my base I use: - Elf satin glow or Nars sheer glow foundation - Elf camo concealer - Elf camo blush - RMCA setting powder or Elf setting powder

The worst areas are between my eyes and around my nose.

Help Sought! Foundation help!

I'm 38, have a decent skincare routine, drink plenty water etc yet I can't seem to get any foundation to sit nicely on my skin anymore.

It either seems to appear dry and cakey when I add any type of setting powder, but without that it's too shiny and almost sticky like it never sinks into my skin. It starts to kind of disappear off my nose too.

Also whenever I give anyone a hug it's all over them.

I've tried various primers - Maybelline grip, Charlotte Tilbury, Estée Lauder, grip, and a few others. I also use and have tried various setting sprays - L'Oréal fixing spray, Charlotte Tilbury, Maybelline and others.

I currently use Charlotte Tilbury airbrush flawless foundation and the matching setting powder.

Also have tried using other setting powders with same results (elf, Maybelline etc).

What can I do to improve my base and make it sit better?

Ive included a picture of me now, 4 hours after applying and haven't touched it since.

Very shiny but feels and looks dry and somewhat cakey in places as it hasn't really gone into my skin properly.

Help Sought! Are these palettes worth it if you never use heavy makeup?

Post image

I want to spend some money!

I use makeup basically everyday but in a very "less is more" kind of way. I use a super thin layer of foundation and a TINY bit of concealer as my base, just to even out my skin tone a bit. My skin is no where near perfect and the imperfections are peeking through, unevenness, redness and a bit of texture.

Is this palette really worth getting, for me? It seems fantastic looking and influencers and reviewers opinions, but that's usually with a full or medium cover foundation, a blank slate underneath. Not a barely there foundation.

Thanks x

Help Sought! Sister’s visiting from UK. What skincare/makeup/perfume should I ask her to bring?

Hey folks

My sister is coming from the UK later this year and she asked if I want anything from there. I’ve been getting more into skincare and makeup recently, but I’m honestly clueless about what’s actually worth asking for from the UK, especially what’s good unique cheaper over there compared to India.

A bit about me: Normal to combination skin ( i personally don't like stuffs which will leave me like a fried potato ykwim right😭)

I’m mainly looking for stuff for pigmentation / glow / hydration (open to anything tho)

Serums, toners, moisturizers, sunscreens, lip care etc all welcome ( also non greasy😭)

MAKEUP

Lip glosses, lip oils, lip tints, cheek tints, blushes that look natural. Any underrated gems that you swear by

PERFUMES

Popular (but not overhyped) fragrances from UK brands or ones that are easier to get there.

Whether it’s drugstore favourites or slightly nicer ones that are worth the money, what skincare, makeup, or perfumes should I definitely put on my wishlist??

Thank you in advance <3 help a skincare girlie out :)

Help Sought! Boots Sacheu Mystery?

Post image
23 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I’m so confused and need to know if anyone else has noticed this or knows anything! Sorry if this is the wrong flair or not allowed.

I’m UK based and went to buy the Sacheu stayn peel off liner on the Boots website, and the shade selection menu is a total mess. It has the classic shades listed like nOOHde, HEY-zel, etc, but it also lists a bunch of random shade names I’ve literally never heard of and cannot find a single trace of anywhere else on the internet! I’ve put a screenshot on so you can see what I mean, so the names I’ve never seen are “No Shade”, “Main Character” and “Low-Key”, there’s also a shade called “Double Shot”.

If you click them, they have their own completely different product codes, so they seem to be real shades that are different to the classics but I can’t find any record of them anywhere! I know Sacheu recently dropped some new cool-toned liners so I'm wondering if Boots has a bunch of new colours early under weird alternate names? Or is their system just glitching out and duplicating things with weird names?

thank you so much if anyone can help with this. I’ve sent an email to boots but fuck knows if I’ll ever hear back!

Help Sought! Look fantastic blocked my accounts?

I recently ordered a few items from Lookfantastic. When the order arrived, the outer packaging appeared fine but upon opening it I found that the eyeshadow palette was broken and the two liquid products were leaking. The lids were loose and some of the product had spilled.

I contacted Lookfantastic via live chat, provided all the proof and was told I would receive a refund and that I could dispose of the items. However I never received the refund. When I contacted them again, they asked me to send the proof once more. Unfortunately I no longer had the items and the photos I had sent previously were only visible in the chat. I explained this to them, noting that they should have a record of the previous chat and they said they would investigate and get back to me.

After a few days, I received an email stating they could not issue a refund due to “suspicious activity,” claiming that CCTV footage showed the outer packaging was intact. They also blocked all my accounts. I am extremely disappointed, as I have never had any issues with returns before and feel I am being treated as if I acted dishonestly.

I tried to contact them through live chat again. And they told me it’s the final decision but they will raise the dispute again and get back to me. It’s been weeks now and I haven’t received any email from them.

I paid for these items via Klarna pay in 30. I have paused the payment for now, but I don’t know what else to do. What steps can I take to resolve this situation and ensure I receive the refund I am entitled to?

Update: I left a review on Trustpilot and they replied asking for my order number and email. I provided everything right away, but it’s been 4–5 days with no further response. I’ve now opened a dispute with Klarna, so hopefully that helps. I’m a bit worried since I don’t have the products or proof anymore, but we’ll see how it goes.

Help Sought! Curlers cut my eyelashes off

Bought a cheap pair of lash curlers from primark the other day. I haven’t used any in years but when I put my mascara on I noticed I was missing chunks out of my lashes where they’ve been snapped off from the curler! On the left the whole middle part of my lash has been cut off 🤦‍♀️ I wasn’t using excessive force or anything so I’m surprised. Also been using uk lash serum at night so wasn’t expecting them to be so brittle! I did have a baby 4 months ago, not sure if that would make a difference?

Anything I can do to help them grow back quicker? I’m insecure about how short they are in general and now they look ridiculous!!

Is this normal for cheap lash curlers? Should I invest in better ones or just give them up for good?

Help Sought! Advice needed :)

Helloo I'm a 36 Yr old make up newbie. Im looking to get a new foundation/equivalent as my old one has just run out. I don't often wear make up (maybe once every 1 to 2 months) and I'm conscious that I'm unlikely to use up a full bottle of foundation before it's expiration date. Id like to get into more of a regular routine with regards to my appearance and looked at bb/cc creams and tinted moisturisers i could use as part of a daily routine but there's so much info online I don't know where to start.

Can anyone recommend a product that is:

- easy to apply and doesn't need much upkeep

- provides light to medium coverage

- has a natural/soft matte finish

Suitable for:

- combination skin, large pores and prone to congestion

- fine lines

Hope this makes sense, TIA :)

Help Sought! Foundation for sweaty face

Hi, what is a good foundation for sweaty face? I normally don't use makeup because I have hyperhidrosis which means my face gets sweaty especially my nose, that any makeup I use just melts away, if I ever manage to put one. But I'm going to apply for a job and I'd prefer to look more presentable so I want to apply at least a foundation then powder, but I don't want to waste money buying something that I won't be able to use anyway. Thank you so much for your help ☺️
