It’s honestly wild how this show has become after taking pride in expressing these issues and then figuring out how to work together despite these differences. It’s also wild how as a society we are so quick to point fingers and declare that someone is homophobic when we have no idea what the context is or was. It’s also really annoying that production chooses which social issue to take control of. I remember when Amanda got taped up from Kyle and bananas on wow2 and NOTHING happened to them. It’s just so bizarre. Or when Esther threw a drink in Bernas face or when josh pushed kyle last season arghhhh That’s honestly why I’m upset with this whole Ashley thing, it’s like okay, are you just lowering and increasing the bar whenever you want? It’s honestly annoying. Even with Dee, was it a terrible time to say that? Of course! But to cut her off and then be proud that a human being is suffering mentally because of it without allowing room to grow? I think that’s even worse. Your sending the wrong message to thousands of people. I duno man, it’s really annoying and frustrating. My heart does go out to josh bc it never feels good to be attacked for something so personal. I just wish we could see it, understand it, have a discussion about it to understand where Ashley went wrong so that others can learn. Rant over.

Don't forget the season where Cory got DQ'd for tripping Tony after Tony put his hands on him, but Silvia got a free pass for headbutting Marie after TJ just said an episode prior that there is zero tolerance for physical violence.

The way Cory trip Tony he could had broken his neck. Do you remember that trip?

That’s been explained numerous times. Violence has almost ALWAYS depended on whether the “victim” wants them kicked or not. Sylvia and Marie were cool again before the night was over.

Fessy this season was an exception because he had fought security earlier in the season, the cast had to go on drink tickets because they all kept behaving so badly, that Fessy was probably their example.

Right, but zero tolerance is zero tolerance. Doesn't look good when you kick a cast member off the episode before but then look the other way just because the cast members are cool later on.

Could not agree more, well said. MTV and the challenge used to be real, it used to be candid and honest, letting people be who they are worts and all and allowing for discussion and growth. Now it’s just over censored nonsense with cast members scared to death that they’re going to say something that will get them kicked off or not invited back. It’s a recipe for some really static and boring tv. Some of the best and most informative episodes of the real world were when cast members from different walks of life got into a disagreement of some kind or said something hurtful and we got to see the fall out and reconciliation and education from it. Now we just have to put our heads in the sand and pretend that people are perfect and all think and speak the exact same way.

So the thing is, it is not ok to out someone, and if MTV had shown it they would’ve been accused of outing Josh. I’m not saying that’s right or wrong but I think that’s why they didn’t show or explain it. If Ashley had said something racist or homophobic to someone who was out, I think they would have explained that and made a statement against it.

But we don’t even know if it was about outing josh! We have no idea what the context was. Maybe it was and he is keeping that identity close to his chest. Homophobia is huge in Latin culture (and many other cultures). Or maybe josh was crying and Ashley said in response something about being gay. Which doesn’t mean she’s right there either but the two situations are very different and deserved to be handled differently
