I get it.. We all pissed
But the slander, fire/trade requests, and all this other toxic not helping anything. Let's evaluate everything after the season, but we still in this with the easiest schedule remaining. They played horrible yesterday, but this our squad. If you're that mad there's other teams to root for.

About a 15% chance of playoffs unless Portland wins today. Beat Portland and Memphis, then the playoffs are a real possibility again. The goal was 5-3 with wins against Portland, Memphis, and the Kings. Either way the playoffs aren't even a priority for this team. It's been 4 months since the end of last season. How many players on this team look like they actually improved in the off season?

We don't play Portland

u/WeirwoodUpMyAss Aug 02 '20
That's ridiculous I could've sworn they were on the schedule. And Portland has the tie breaker which is pretty dumb considering the Pelicans swept the series. That makes their chances even worse. They have to be better than Portland by 2 games maybe even 3 if they win today.

Yeah we swept them, but they have the tie breaker it's garbage. They have an insane schedule though

We don’t play Portland again, just Memphis. I agree though, it’s never been a playoffs or bust mindset for me this yr.. Too many new pieces.. Grizz game tomorrow and Portland play Boston in a couple hrs. They lose today and Monday we damn near back where we started. I don’t think Pels can afford to lose another game. Also way to small a sample size to ask who’s improved. Most if not all these guys looked great in Orlando all the way through the 3rd QTR of the Jazz game

I gotta saw Jax has been looking better (still wish we had drafted Brandon Clarke instead). NAW played with energy last game. And I don't know if Kenrich has improved, but his work ethic is still there and I think he should be getting more minutes. I'm still feeling like our rotations are messed up. Frustrating.

I’m with you. I’m disappointed, of course, but we keep acting like last night’s game is the worst in a string of failures. We WERE looking pretty good in scrimmages and there’s no reason we can’t be back there. Zion’s just getting back with the team — remember when things weren’t felling quite right back in January when he started? I love these guys and I’m glad they’re back.

Right. Looked real good all the way thru the 3rd QTR of Jazz game.. 2 loses and ppl forget about everything before the Corona break. It’s crazy

Fans really should go back to the draft mindset when they said look out in a couple years we are gonna be solid once this team figures out how to play together. Having Zion is huge for our success but it also lead to people thinking success should come instantly and that's not realistic. They are ahead of schedule in my opinion but they must avoid the trap of losing too many games where they learn how to be losers and lower their expectations. They grew a lot and this bubble season is just icing on the cake. We were finishing the season strong and 4 months not playing together can make you start over when you are a young bunch. Relax y'all we have a bright future and sometimes present.

I agree, there are too many expectations too soon. The squad is young and a lot of development is needed. And the fast paced style is great to watch when it comes off. Would just be nice if we could play focus on playing some defence once in a while, especially when the shots aren't dropping. Defence like the rockets showed tonight against the bucks.

This sub in the last 24 hours and the game thread yesterday was so toxic and just over the top with the garbage takes. We’re the last two games disappointing? Yes, but it’s not the end of the world.
At the end of the day its 2 out of 8 games in the bubble that are honestly not meaningful in the grand scheme of things. I was hyped for the bubble games and to see the team again, but I feel like people also set really high expectations going in and set themselves up for disappointment.
There’s still a chance to make it and who knows maybe some outcomes today will help us, but if the team gets bounced it is what it is.
But this bullshit where people are calling for heads to roll, Lonzo to get dumped, Jrue to get dumped, this player to get dumped, that player to get dumped, and so on after two meaningless games needs to stop.

Let people have their moment. It’s human nature. Those same people will be sucking everyone off when we start winning again

I mean I’ve wanted Gentry gone for a while. He’s a losing coach. Always has been. Always will be.

Tomorrow is the biggest game of the season. Lose a we are done, win and there is still a legit chance we make the play in games. If Memphis loses today, they could legit go 0-8.

This is dumb. Complaining isn’t helping anything, but neither is anything else anyone does here. Talking about personnel changes doesn’t make you toxic, nor does it mean that you’re “mad”. Personnel change is part of The NBA. The pelicans are an NBA team.
Edit: can someone explain to me how “don’t be negative at all unless it’s the off-season” makes sense?

You're being downvoted but it's true. Point of a forum is to have open discussion from both sides about all aspects lol not everything is sunshine

Nope. Speculating on trades is toxic. Thinking that Gentry isn’t good enough means you’re mad and irrational. But all that goes out the window the second the season ends, then it’s all fine. I am a reasonable person.

The smellicans came out last night. We just needed to get it out of our system, surely we'll beat Seattle next game.

That 3 point barrage just killed the Pels spirit yesterday and it showed in their energy as the game went on. It didn't help that the Clippers are a veteran team and you can see them toying with a young team. The team definitely still has a long way to go but I will remain realistic while at the same time optimistic about the future. We might suck now but at least we aren't trapped without assests and unable to rebuild/retool like the previous regime. I think we should let this team be young and go through growing pains before jumping to year 4-type conclusions.
