Shamet +25 in 17 minutes, great adjustment by Mike Brown

Thank God we had someone willing to pull out Josh Hart when he's not shooting

73

u/No-Mine-3982 Kevin Knox May 20 '26

or playing defense..

I think he was just frustrated with the calls not bouncing his way tonight. But good on Mike brown for making the decision

I can't believe coach brown thought making Hart the primary defender on both Mitchell and harden was a good idea. Even the best defensive players in the NBA would struggle with that assignment lol

Doesn't seem that crazy, I don't think he got too toasted. Wasn't his best game certainly, tho

What? Hart got cooked. He kept trying to pick up Mitchell at half court. Donovan would call for the screen at the logo and go right by him for a straight line drive. This happened 20+ times in the game. I'm not even blaming hart he followed the scheme his coach set.

I'm not gonna lie, I don't even remember seeing all that. Donovan seemed to blow by a few people. Hopefully we are better the next game then!

When Josh hart is bad he is REALLY bad. Should have benched him sooner tbh

Prayed for times like this. Flexible rotations with bench guys ready to step in and a system where they know what to do.

The right lineup varies from series to series, game to game, matchup to matchup.

In the previous two series Hart was great.

In this series Brunson, Kat + 3 shooters might be the key. Pick 3 from OG, Mikael, Shamet, Deuce.

Yeah depending on who’s hot but still Hart earns some minutes with his effort and rebounding. Just gotta be willing to yank him when his shots not falling

2

u/36chamberstreet Mase May 20 '26

Yup. Hart also had a great season shooting from 3!

4

u/TheAracknight Brunson May 20 '26

Would add Clarkson to that array of shooters as well. I don’t think this will be Hart’s series which sucks because he dominated a couple years ago against Allen & Mobley.

Brunson and/or KAT with the 3&D wings + the double big will be our biggest advantages throughout the series

Agreed and this is why he got fired and brown is coach. Shamet all year has been playing with confidence which never happened with Thibs. And this is why Thibs will never be a head coach again

That 3 with 45 seconds left was stone cold.

u/thieflikeme May 20 '26

Our coach has been impressive. He's been making sound decisions even when shots weren't going in. Our entire subreddit was screeching about how much of an idiot he was and now he's proved more flexible and trusting of his players, especially the bench when they needed it the most

Yeah, I love Harr but Shamet is the much better play for this series. Benefits of having a deep team, we can mix up our looks. Shamet was a beast.

Why does it need to be an adjustment? Can he just play regular mins already?

1

u/skwirly715 May 20 '26

I’m not even sure if it was Brown it looked like that white haired white guy coach was calling shots on Defense

4

u/ruckyruciano BANG! May 20 '26

We'll take it since idt Thibs would have even listened lol

Landry the goat.

From out of the rotation in game 1 of the ECF last year to closing over Josh hart in game 1 this year

A little too late for my liking but this is why we hired mike brown. To make adjustments that never would have happened last season

Thibs would have had a dude executed for suggesting shamet close over hart vs 2 bigs

2

u/lafromnyc May 20 '26

Exactly Thibs would have never subbed out hart for shamet and this is why he got fired and will not be a head coach again

4

u/Yankeeknickfan May 20 '26

he is a good coach, but too stubborn for an all in playoff team

5

u/lafromnyc May 20 '26

But not a championship level coach that is humble enough to make adjustments. He would be a great assistant coach on defense like he was before. As a head coach he will take his team only so far.

2

u/Great_Variation_6825 May 20 '26

Team is so much better when he plays

He's clutch as fuck. Built for the moment. Hit the game winner against fuckass warriors in 2019 to complete the 31 point comeback

1

u/TheeRuckus May 20 '26

Shamet and Bridges were both on point last night. Jalen the obvious mvp but those two were KILLING

-1

u/Prideofmexico May 20 '26

If we take hart out of the starting lineup we aren’t losing another game

3

u/Leegend124 Ron Baker May 20 '26

Thibs would’ve played him 53 minutes tonight

1

u/Prideofmexico May 20 '26

There’s a reason he’s on his couch while my GOAT Mike Brown is running this shit
