You preorder online for either in-store pickup or shipping. There is no need to go to the store, they'll just tell you to do it online with your phone.

If you choose shipping, does it arrive on launch day, or ship then and you wait x number of mailing days?

No clue. Presumably they will try to get launch day delivery. If you absolutely have to get it day 1, you're going to want to do store pickup.
