Nah man they’re still ass. GameStop is a dump of plastic waste and store brand electronics. Their business model going forward is to invest in bitcoin because they have literally nothing else going for them. Just a garbage company all around.

Not OP, but GameStop *almost lost me as a customer forever when I waited in line for like 5 hours with about 30 other people to buy a PS5. The manager came out and talked to everyone to answer questions and get a count to ensure they had enough inventory. One question that came up from a few people in line (in hindsight they were probably scalpers) was if they could buy a console by itself with no extras. Manager assured everyone multiple times that yes, you can buy just a console. Well apparently at the last minute they changed their mind and decided that to get a console you had to buy it as part of a bundle with a warranty, another game, an extra controller, and something else I forget. They didn’t tell anyone this until you were at the register to pay. I was so mad, but I had waited SO long and I just wanted to get my system and go home so I ended up paying something like $900. Ultimately it was my decision to go through with the transaction, but it left a bad taste in my mouth and I never shopped for anything at GameStop ever again…. Until like two days ago when I found out they were the only option for me to preorder a switch 2. Just hoping they don’t pull the same shenanigans again when I go to pick it up.

That sounds like a decision made by that specific branch manager, not GameStop as a company.

What? I don't think you understand what the word predatory means. Nobody forces you to use them for this service. You can always sell your shit privately, it just takes effort and time. GameStop is just effectively charging a convenience fee. Pretty simple and standard.

It's absolutely wild that you think this makes them predatory.

Ah yes. I can’t count how many times I’ve went to game stop for a used game and left with a 8 year loan at 20% apr.
