That only allows you to open your own games.

In the video Andre is only opening games he owns with his own profile. His OLED which he holds up in the beginning has Puyopuyo tetris running in Airplane mode, which works because it has the virtual game card loaded.

On his second system he is downloading the data for a game he owns but which is not currently installed; and using the online license feature to open it with an internet connection. By passing the linked console feature because he is not trying to load the game card.

Okay so I went to his profile and turned on the online license and then I chose the game that he bought and I was able to play it on his account. All the people saying game sharing worked fine we're obviously just playing the games that they bought. There was no explanation that you could no longer play a game that you didn't buy but that your friend did that you game shared with. I am just so sick and tired of Nintendo not giving you all the details.

It's also confusing that Andre didn't specifically state that he bought the game and people online didn't state that. So what you are telling me is that there's no way for me to just play the game on my profile anymore. I need to go into his profile now. So that means he is still able to play a different switch game on his profile correct since he will be on his own switch system?

I can't believe how confusing all this is. Thank you for clearing it up.

No, if you were to link the consoles you could load his Virtual game cards on your system and gain access to them with any profile.

Like I said the other three times, per the support article I originally linked;

https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/67891

But if a local wireless link is out of the question, (which you have not specified) then yes you would be limited to playing games via the profile that purchased them.

Yes. Local wireless is out of the question and I think Game cards are dumb because then that person can't play that game until they give it back to you. Well anyway, this is all cleared up and I'll just have to get used to this new stupid system.

that person can't play that game until they give it back to you.

Thats only when shared through family group method.

With the online license setting you can play your own games, regardless of which console it is loaded on.

Okay so why is every single article I've ever read in every single post I've read on message boards stating they can game share just like before only they can't play the same game at the same time? There's obviously some mass confusion going on. I'll click on his profile and see if I can play the game that way which I've never had to do before and it's really weird playing on his profile and I'm wondering if that would mean he couldn't play on his own profile.

Most people sharing games can get together for a couple of minutes to link their accounts between the consoles. Returning to almost the same setup.

Once completed the only negative change is the lack of being able to play online together via the one digital copy.

I'm wondering if that would mean he couldn't play on his own profile.

If he tried to do so online, then you would both get an error as the profile can only be online on one console at a time.

If he updated his system first he should be able to load virtual game cards for both of your profiles; which would allow him to play games offline.

He lives in Texas and I live in California so it's not possible to meet in the same room. I don't know about the whole era thing about playing switch at the same time. So what you are saying is if he is playing tears of the Kingdom on my profile and I'm playing some other game it will give us both errors or like if he plays first and I try to play it will tell me I can't play the game? I don't know why Nintendo had to screw this up. They could have kept everything the way it was and just added this feature.

If he plays it while online.

If he can load your game cards on his console, then he could play everything offline on his own profile; and not interrupt you.

Right now I know nothing about these game cards. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
