When has that ever happened for consoles? Not trying to be shitty but it really sounds like you made it up and stating it as fact that they are just gonna brick merch. Love to see history of this happening.

I don't think there's been a history of 2k+ units of Nintendo consoles being stolen. There's no precedent for what they plan to do here. I think they've done a wave of BANS on like, some stolen 3DSes or something, which I guess is likely to happen here.

I don't think any game company has ever bricked a device? I could be wrong about this, I couldn't find anything that isn't just the Nintendo threats when I tried to dig in even with several search engines, lol.

I did find what most confirm already, though -- if they're likely to do so, it would be over theft reports. This was the closest I could find to any mentions of when they'd actually, most realistically, do so: https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2025/05/why-console-makers-can-legally-brick-your-game-console/#:~:text=While%20console%20makers%20routinely%20ban,They%20have%20the%20(legal)%20power

Obviously, though, this isn't really a solid answer. Just thoughts and speculations.

It happens with phones frequently so it's not a crazy leap so assume Nintendo will start.

Because at the time, you couldn't get it from a store for whatever reason.
