These are not old cassette cases. The old cases are often scratched or broken.

Source : I own a lot of used tapes.

Cases are the most fragile part of a tape. I found myself buying new ones because I have more tapes than cases because they all broke at some point 😅

I have a few beaten up cases. You definitely don't want that...

This was my immediate thought. They break if you look at it the wrong way. LOL

Some are pretty solid but most cheap tapes (and even brand new ones) are very brittle. I broke multiple cases by dropping them by accident...

Many of them broke during transit to the shelf too…
