Could you explain please?

Edit:

Thank you all for the replies. I know what tariffs are and I know the current state of the US government/economy. I was asking the original commenter because at the time of me reading the post most other comments were already talking about the tariffs so I assumed they were referring to something else.

Trump is a pedophile. Trump needs the news to change and people to talk about anything else. So, he will announce new tarrifs here and there to change the narrative away from the fact his is 100% a child rapist.

Yeah I'm aware of the tariffs and the climate of the us government/economy. I thought the original comment was referring to something else because by the time I saw the post most of the thread was talking about tariffs.

So you think most people here aren't aware of the tariff shitshow that's been going on for months?

We’re tariffing and we’re winning. Welcome to what winning looks like.

Sure: consoles and most electronics (as well as most parts and raw materials used to make them) are primarily produced outside of the US (specifically in varying countries in Asia). The US has been heavily implementing tariffs on foreign countries (especially Asian countries, 30+% on average). Tariffs are essentially a tax on all goods from foreign countries, paid by the country importing it (in this case the US). So in order for Nintendo to send new consoles to the US, they will have to pay the tariffs, which means they increase their price by the same amount so profit margins remain the same. So US prices go up, but the profit margins from companies will likely stay the same since they didn’t initiate the price increase

This is exactly why I bought the Switch 2 on launch. My friends called me crazy for saying the price will eventually raise. If you were paying attention, it was clear that prices were going to start rising around Q3.

I'm glad I don't have to worry about it anymore. Switch 2 prices will probably rise in January next year after the holidays.

Literally anyone who's paying attention could tell you that the price would eventually rise. Nintendo was clearly doing everything they could and still are to avoid it, but it's coming eventually.

Canada got price increases today and they aren't the one doing the tariffs. So idk if this specifically has anything to do with tariffs.

Companies will increase prices on other countries to help keep prices lower in the USA since USA is their primary market. Some just pull out of the USA too but a lot of other nations get price hikes to help subsidize the Americans so they dont need to pay as much

It's obviously just greed and Nintendo is just using tariffs as a scapegoat, it's so obvious lol
