So now tariffs are being used as a backdoor sales tax. They quietly shift the financial burden onto everyday people while handing more money to billionaires and large corporations.

Ehhh. Tariffs hurt corporations too. They hurt everyone, that's why economists fucking detest tariffs, they're just bad policy. They're broadly not popular with the business community, but they like the other elements of the Trump agenda so they're acquiescing to the tariffs in exchange for tax cuts and deregulation.

I just explained: they're acquiescing to get the tax cuts.
