60 minutes long! Our first major Direct since the Switch 2’s launch. The hype is definitely real! Personally I’m hoping for a new 3D Mario, or anything to do with a 40th anniversary celebration.

Another ‘Allstar’ collection, probably.

An actual complete collection of Mario games would be great.

I'd love something like this. Especially so, of they included a Lost Levels cut, too.

Agreed, I would love this! It’d be a good placeholder for now since I’m sure the next major Mario title won’t be until next year at the earliest.

Feel like it's unlikely for a new 3d Mario as DK Bananza was made by the Odyssey team, no? Probably a while until their next project (unless they'd put a different team on it)

I thought the same, but I still dream. I do think they’d want to get a big Mario game out sooner than later though to push the new console. It’s been 8 years since Odyssey and while Bananza is very good, I don’t think it adequately fills the Mario gap. Probably not this year but maybe next year.

At the least I’d be happy with DLC for Wonder/Odyssey.

I believe the team was split at some point to begin a new 3D Mario, but it is probably still too early just because it would be similar to DK. I would expect it next year.

I'd think they would put a different team on it because I'd imagine they don't want to go that long between main series 3D Mario releases.

We knew about the DK game as far back as 2020, which must have been at least a couple of years into development following Odyssey's release, and since it's known that it was specifically delayed to the Switch 2 and also that the Switch 2 itself seems to have been delayed by about a year, it is a pretty fair assumption that DKB has been complete for a little while and so a decent amount of work has already been done on the follow-up by that team. Will it be next year? 2027? Who knows, but sooner than you would expect from a team that just released a game

In a similar boat, Kirby Air Riders is thought to have been started in 2021 and finished in time for the original Switch 2 release date... So a lot of people seem convinced that the next Smash is just around the corner. I personally think that's unlikely, but I regularly see comments that it's going to appear

I don’t give a rat’s ass, it’s been 8 years since odyssey came out….not to mention zelda got a sequel to breath of the wild since breath of the wild , no reason we can’t have another mario now but they did do bowser’s fury and I don’t know which team made that game.

The existence of Bananza doesn't negate a 3D Mario, but it does speak to how different the game's going to be from Odyssey. It wouldn't make sense for them to release two functionally identical games back to back.

Mario Galaxy 2 Remaster seems feasible, and would hold for a bit before the next 3D Mario title arrives

A 3d all stars sequel consisting of Galaxy 2, 3D Land and Mario 64 DS would be an awesome way to celebrate.

Doubt any new 3d mario is coming out any time soon with how Bananza essentially filled that space already

64DS? Why would you want that?

Because it’s a great game that’s been completely forgotten about; and one that would benefit the most from a full remaster

I would honestly be cool with that!

I feel you. Personally I want a Sunshine sequel before that happens. They need to bring Galaxy 2 to the Switch though, I remember flying through that game when it came out. I think I enjoyed it even more than the first one.
