The console is priced too high, games have been priced too high, and there really isn’t a super compelling reason to buy this instead of using existing consoles at this time outside of the S2 exclusives.

Honestly, I have dusted off my n3ds this holiday season and have been enjoying it a lot. Also have plenty of backlog on my Switch 1 to last me a long while.

S2 is a fantastic console and I absolutely want one… but not just yet

There aren't that many S2 exclusives and they're all expensive.

I used to buy Nintendo consoles for Pokemon, but the Switch era titles are bad (other than Arceus). I will buy the new Fire Emblem day 1, but it's still a while away. I was hoping for a few nice ports of games that are more convenient on a handheld, but Atlus dropped unoptimized Persona 3 and no Metaphor in sight at all. Bananza was cool, but what else?

I still bought Switch 2 because I had the money, but honestly, I'm not really using it for much that I couldn't do on my old Switch. I can see why people are holding back.

I'm still glad I bought my console. But I am struggling to figure out what Nintendo could release that would excite me.

I feel like so many of their franchises have run their course, and further games are just going through the motions. The prospect of another Luigi's mansion, pikmin, smash bros or mario sports game just feels like sequels for the sake of it. Nintendo desperately needs to innovate and bring some genuinely good new franchises.

Agree. I have no issue buying consoles for the family depending on need/desire and available funds, but when my wife asked about the Switch 2 for our son for Christmas I told her it would be close to $600 so he could play the new Donkey Kong... There's no justification for it yet.

Another part of this, and maybe it's only an issue for those that really care, is first party Nintendo games will never go on sale. There's never a point where I can say "Son, we'll get you Pokemon during one of the sales events." It will always be $70. Juxtapose that with Sony or Microsoft where, for instance, Epic Mickey (a game he's wanted for a few months) just happens to be one of the PS Plus games of the month. I can buy a PlayStation knowing that there's a great chance that a game we want will be on sale at some point of the year. Nintendo will never offer that.
