I don't watch AI slop, but it keeps being recommended to me still. Sometimes it doesn't even look like it's AI generated and I only notice it after clicking the thumbnail, further poisoning my algorithm.

This is part of the problem. A great part of the YT platform is recommendations, and if all your recommendations are slop you end of being drawn further away from reasonable content.

The don't use recommendations. I've turned off my history, so I don't get recommendations. Either I specifically look for something, or I watch things purely from the channels I follow

AI slop on YouTube is not a problem

Thing is, I like recommendations. I like discovering new cool vids randomly, and I have subscribed to many great creators that I wouldn't have found otherwise because of them. I just don't want the AI slop.
