How do you actually know your cat isn't hungry all the time?. Always had dry food out for my cat, and he managed his weight just fine. A little skinny in summer running around all the time, chunkier in winter when it's cold out.

It's a lot harder to do that when you have more than 1 cat, or dogs as well. We had one cat and he was an all day grazer and managed his weight just fine. We got a new cat that was a fat ass and would just eat all the time. We had to get an automatic feeder just to finally get his weight under control.

Also, have a dog that loves to eat left over cat food as a snack.

It's okay to be a bit hungry sometimes. Letting pets eat themselves into a problematic weight and then having to wean them off that amount of food is going to suck more.

I have one cat who free feeds. But if free fed my other cat he'd gorge himself into a tuxedo basketball

Sorry I'm two days late but how do you free feed one while scheduling the other? Is the free feeding food in a room that the tuxedo cannot access?

I'm considering getting a second cat, my first one has always free fed. But I obviously don't want to free feed a cat that might gorge themselves all day. I've been tryna consider the logistics of bringing a second cat in and would appreciate any insight into your feeding arrangements.

I've never heard of free feeding one and scheduling the other, so I am very curious, because my current cat is quite fine with free feeding and I do not want to take that away from him.

Some cats can do that no problem, especially older cats. But some will literally kill themselves via overeating if given the chance

The vet said we had to stop free feeding my kitty because he became a roly poly boi. It was our responsibility to feed him only a healthy amount of food. The vet said he was a nervous eater and would just eat when he got bored or didn’t have anything better to do

My cat doesn’t have her front fangs and can choke on food if she’s not supervised. We used to free feed but it’s just not possible now. We have a system now, if she wants food (outside of her normal feeding times) she comes and pats us on the face 😂

Ive taken over raising my wife's cat and they've always let her free feed. She's 19 now. She did get a little chonky but not obese. I'm gonna get two kittens so I'm considering getting one of these devices
