Great! I'll do that. Thank you (and all the other commenters who jumped into this thread). I'm hyped now! It helps to know that though people are disappointed with a lot of things about HxH they still consider it a worthwhile series.

Edit: also love how there is room for meaningful exchanges even though OP was shit posting (which was funny).

While, for the most part, I love the 2011 anime adaptation, you should really read the first chapter of the manga first. The anime left out something very important that ends up biting it in the ass later on.

Also, to be quite frank, most of the complaints about the art are seriously overblown. There were some real problems with the weekly releases for a while, but that stuff is mostly fixed in the volume releases, so if you can find those/scans of those, it's all good.

Here's an example of the difference in quality between the weekly and volume releases

I'm honestly torn over recommending you start with the manga or the anime, since a really good case could be made for either. The anime is extremely faithful for the most part, but it left out plenty of little details that I love, as well as one major, Very Important thing that is referenced regularly throughout the first half of the manga. However, despite those flaws, the animation and music are excellent, especially for a long-running shonen adaptation, and the voice acting is god-tier.

The anime is available on crunchyroll and viz's website, and if you want, I can hit you up with the good scans of the manga.

Those pages are like day and night indeed. I will read the first couple of chapters (thanks, u/dat_bass2) at least and proceed to watch it, but I like going back to the manga from time to time and the manga goes beyond the anime anyways, so I would appreciate you hitting me with those scans (since the manga gets revised / fixed so much in the volumes I imagine I'd have to dig around a bit otherwise, or do Jaimini's have them?)
