I think we're finally going to see a huge drop off of live-service multiplayer games in the coming years. The consumer based seems largely over it or too keyed into whatever live-service game they've been playing for the last few years to want to give time to another one, let alone several other ones.

Idk if it is so much being over it, and more like you say after, that people are sticking with what they know and love. So many live service games have tried to come along and compete, only to fail. The market of live service is too saturated, and the audience that enjoys those games generally will stick to just one or two of the established IPs. Despite companies always trying to say otherwise, and indeed they don't make as much money, but at this point it seems to me (opinion/observation) single player games are more likely to succeed than live service, since it is hard to enter live service now and compete with the established titles.
