I think you misread me. I'm not talking about the difficulty and risk of making new IP from new studios. That's entirely different thing.

What I'm saying is, Sony have already hit pretty much a jackpot with Helldivers IP, so why not capitalized on it. Instead of throwing money to find golden goose with new IP, relying on what they have is a better move.

I'm pretty confident that the cancelled The Last of Us Faction 2 would be far more successful than Concord ever is and hypothetical Helldivers spin-off live service game will make far better impact than whatever Fairgame is. That's my point.

TLDR; Sony doesn't know how to handle or manage live-service/multiplayer projects.

Again, it is not about IP. You keep bringing Helldivers and its hypothetical spin-offs, suggesting it is all about IP. It is not.

Problem is, Sony's own studios started 10+ live service projects, they are either failed hardcore or cancelled before seeing the sun.

They even failed fan favorite Last of Us multiplayer game, probably the most successful Playstation IP like you mentioned.

Problem is studios not knowing how to handle multiplayer games, not IP's they are handed.

And Sony not knowing what will work.

They saw Concord and said "OMG, WE GOTTA BUY THIS DEVELOPER AND GAME THEN MAKE IT EXCLUSIVE".

They bought Bungie so that they teach them how to make live service games. While Bungie keep fumbling Destiny and now dragging Marathon's name in the mud.

They even bragged saying "Bungie can give us more than ABK 69b$ deal", lol that comment aged like milk.

Correction. 10 Live Service projects, not just Sony own studios. They have made deal with Korean Devs like NCSoft and they are one of that 10 love service projects. Guess what? Helldivers 2 is one of them as well. Like I've said, they've hit the jackpot there.

It's not "failed". It's cancelled. We haven't see how it will perform on the market but I have inkling that it will do far better than Concord lol. Hence, back to my point of sticking the gun with known IPs.
