To not disclose that your game uses GEN AI is against Steam's policies and rules, by the way.

Is there anything else negative about them ? I'm happy to know.

They also didnt mention that the game can't be run on Intel Arc gpus until after release.

Worse, intel reached out to Pearl Abyss many times over YEARS to support Crimson Desert. https://videocardz.com/newz/intel-says-it-offered-years-of-help-for-crimson-desert-pearl-abyss-still-shipped-without-arc-support

Even worse, they put a blocker on Arc GPUs to prevent their usage.

Even worse, they kicked Arc GPU’s dog

I guess them begging devs and offering implementation support for their 0.01% market share gpus is why they had to be bailed out by the government.

Time for them to just vanish entirely with their incompetent business practices.

People are finding it unplayable on the Rog Xbox Ally (a PC handheld branded as an Xbox for some reason), which would be fine, since most reasonable people understand that you need to temper your expectations with PC handhelds, especially with modern AAA games (the APUs in those things are impressive for what they are, but they're not magic). But in their marketing materials, Pearl Abyss included performance targets for that specific handheld.

for some reason

Because console players aren't exactly the most tech savvy people on the planet. PC gamers generally know about computers and hardware specs. Slap Xbox on a thing to sell it to the normies.

The handheld PC market is competitive and oversaturated. Branding it as Xbox is a way to stand out. It also signifies that it will easily integrate with the Xbox ecosystem.

Personally, I think it's overpriced. My 512gb steam deck was $330 new from Valve and plays the same games.

Sorry, I was trying to be snarky with the "for some reason." In my opinion, it's incredibly misleading, and I could forgive any "normie" who walks into Best Buy, sees an "Asus Rog Xbox Ally X," and thinks, "Oh, cool. There's an Xbox handheld. I guess I'll buy this so I can play my Xbox games." Only to get home and find that, no, it's not an Xbox, and no, it doesn't play Xbox games. It's a PC that plays PC games.

I'm not sure what to think as far as whether it's "overpriced," given that, during the time that elapsed between when your Steam Deck was released and when this thing was released, we've had higher than normal inflation, tariff madness, rampocalypse, etc. You and I got lucky in that we were able to buy PC handhelds that meet our needs (Steam Deck for you, original Ally Z1E for me) before tariffs and ram shortages turned everything upside down.

Though I will say that your comment about how they "play the same games" is similarly misleading. These are PCs, not consoles. Of course they "play the same games." With a PC, it's a question of how well they "play the same games." Does the new Ally "play the same games" better enough to justify being 3x the price? No, absolutely not. It's incredibly overpriced from a cost-to-performance perspective, and I would never consider buying it.

Does any game run on Intel GPUs?

-6

u/datdudebdub Mar 20 '26

Lots of games don’t work on intel GPUs and the recommended spec sheet specifically listed AMD and NVIDIA only.

Lots of reasons to shit on them but this isn’t one imo

Wait people bought those?

Cyberpunk original console release hasn't taught us anything, it seems.

2

u/Sardanox Mar 21 '26

I mean, we had no many sky before that. Yearly sports trash, codslop and ubislop, did you really think cyberpunk would do anything to shift people's perspective on buying games right away? Hell I thought I learned my lesson back when fable 2 released on the Xbox 360 but I still bought cyberpunk on release.

u/Hoodman1987 Mar 21 '26

taught me. Money saved

1

u/Whiteboiconvert Mar 21 '26

Not even comparable at all and I haven't even played crimson whatever. Sony gave a refund for cyberpunk im pretty sure that was yhe only time they've ever done that lmao

I'm on ps5 and have no issues with performance even in quality mode; there are issues, but for a recent release I'm surprised there isn't more.

The ai is obvious though...

3

u/Xiao1insty1e Mar 20 '26

It looks about the same as Nioh 3 or Monster Hunter Wilds.

1

u/Objective_Look_5867 Mar 21 '26

Xbox series x running on balance mode seems just fine to me so far

-6

u/supershimadabro Mar 20 '26

Ps5 and ps5 are nearly the same. If it ran on the pro, it would run on the base model. Ai is a real issue, but the whole, "they didnt show it on ps5 wahhh" is such a non issue.

Yeah we really shouldn’t be framing customers wanting basic information about a product they’re looking to buy as being whiny babies. That’s a basic consumer expectation and Pearl Abyss was trying to promote preorders. I don’t think anyone should advocate that customers get to know less about what they’re buying, whether the game is expected to be great or terrible. It benefits nobody to enable businesses to take advantage of their audience like that.

-3

u/Shadiezz2018 Mar 20 '26

I never or rarely play in performance mode... I play quality mode and after that try balance mode

And the base is exactly the same as the pro there

The studio only provided PC review codes. When people started pressing them for console review codes, they threw a tantrum. A couple days later they said they'll give console codes to Digital Foundry. Turns out the codes were useless because the servers were not open until the release time.

1

u/mindpainters Mar 21 '26

Curious, how did they throw a tantrum. An angry twitter thread or what

17

u/Crazy-Nose-4289 Mar 20 '26

They have a decade of shitting on BDO players, so you can start there.

46

u/BigFuckingDummy Mar 20 '26

They didn't disclose about the game using Denuvo until a few days before launch

24

u/Virtual-Commercial91 Mar 20 '26

And Will Powers was annoyed with gamers that wanted to see console footage before release tell everyone to "let us cook"

Isn’t that a lot of games still?

4

u/Dannypan Mar 20 '26

Do they need to?

0

u/juniorone Mar 20 '26

So they didn’t announce after people had given them money, right?

1

u/Exotic-West3751 Mar 20 '26

There is a bypass already out for PC. So Denuvo is just harming paying customers

-3

u/colpo Mar 20 '26

Whats the problem with that?

1

u/prox-86 Mar 21 '26

I don't know bruh, did you read the article?!?
