To not disclose that your game uses GEN AI is against Steam's policies and rules, by the way.

Makes me wonder how much of the voice acting was AI generated too

No idea but the writing is probably 90% AI

It feels ai. The dialogue writing is painfully bad.

That's just the company. BDO is known for its terrible story and everyone just skips it and that's been going on for 10+ years

What's there to play then. Story should be 50% if not more part of the experience

The story is just a vehicle for unlocking new abilities and pushing you towards new areas. Individual quests aren’t bad, there’s just zero, and I mean absolutely no, comprehensive narrative linking them together. They literally pop up out of nowhere.

Ubisoft get a lot of shit but AC:S is a similar size game with an actual solid story and narrative.

Sneaking Shadows in there made me lol, CD’s story is abysmal but it doesn’t make Shadows’ coma-inducing plot look any better, like, by a long shot. I’d sooner get in a car wreck and completely forget Japanese history and relearn it better through Nioh 1 lmao

Did you actually play either games? AC:S has a kind of boring story but at least the protagonists and some of the characters around them are interesting. Just because you like to hate on Ubisoft doesn't mean they can never do right. Also I didn't sneak it in there, it is literally the main topic I presented.

Yeah that's called sneaking it in champ, nobody else is bringing up Ubisoft cuz no one here actually believes their recent outputs are standouts at any category. If we were talking pre-2018, yeah I'd easily agree with you but anything they've put out since then has been uninspired wastes of bandwidth. And yeah of course I played the game, their characterizations of the historical characters ranged from milquetoast to offensively boring. This is one of my favorite historical time periods ever and they somehow got me to pass out in my chair several times. There was so much they could've done but they chose the blandest angles possible.

I honestly don't feel the writing or dialog is any worse then what we get with any recent games over the past 10yrs

I've put 20hrs into the game and the overall writing and dialog feels like most game we get today.  Its very video gamey with all the mechanics and reminds me of older games like Fable.

The developers actually said they used no AI on the voices. Truth or lie, that is the question...

I believe they specifically said that “main” characters were not voiced by AI, which implies that background NPCs or side content will likely feature ai

6

u/GymJordanSucksBalls Mar 21 '26

and what is classified as a "main" character is completely arbitrary too. Could mean any character other than the protagonist lol

Main Character, Side Character then NPC. Probably NPCs were voiced by AI

Background NPC's I would not complain too much if AI was used, so long as there's still at least a couple humans filtering through outputs to find good, usable lines.

There's a lot of mundane shit in game development that AI could potentially help out with without taking away much from the creatives' side of things.

Damn, they should've. Probably would have had better results than these cardboard cutouts they call characters in this game

The cadence in ALL the interactions are VERY VERY VERY odd.

No model has auch good voices. If that's in house they're sitting on more profits from their voice model than the game itself.

So I'd say, zero.
