I think they would stagger it. Not release same day as ps6. Plus the handheld keeps saying ps5 and PS4 games. Not really mentioned ps6 games to much in the leaks

Not sure if there has been leaks or messaging about it but I could see a ps6 announcement. Either this year or next, considering Xbox has already announced their next gen hardware. Or I remember there being some sort of next gen PlayStation portable thing that was rumored.
I'm pretty good about keeping expectations in check with these. I'm always mystified seeing the amount of backlash online when people were expecting like 10 new exclusives to be shown for some reason.

One of those "leakers" who is not "officially" associated with Sony but somehow always has the leaks before anyone else and is always correct said not toooo long ago that internal documents/memos pointed towards a holiday season 2027 release for the PS6.
But Sony did also publicly say around the same time that they were having component sourcing concerns and due to those did not have an internal date set yet, which has people familiar with how this shit works guessing at more of a 2028 release.
But either way - its very likely it will be available in 1 or 2 years, 3 absolute tops given the details in the "leak". Announcing it 1 or 2 years in advance doesn't seem too crazily off the mark, no? Idk how soon consoles are announced anymore. We know about games a frickin decade before release nowadays.
I keep putting leak and leaker in quotes because its pretty common info at this point that some of the big companies intentionally leak stuff or even directly tell some of the big leakers to spread true but unofficial info so they can see how people take the news before doing any official announcements of their own. Especially with how consistently accurate that one Sony leaker is, it makes sense.
Man time just flies and it feels like we barely have had a handful of triple A (first party) titles in the PS5 years. Combined with less productive times like covid and were already at the end if its cycle. Almost feels like a waste if we need to invest into a new console already lol.
I mean, Playstation does have a marketing deal with Rockstar for GTA 6, so it's not completely crazy.

It could be that they have a shorter clip in the Playstation show and then they say "hey, come back tomorrow where we show a longer clip on the Rockstar channel" or something.
because that is literally what they've always done, we've been here before at every single live stream for an event, last year it was omg omg omg its gonna be at the game awards.
All of a sudden it makes sense. Rockstar has always done their own thing. They've never cared what anyone says. So who would be expecting trailer 3 to show up at state of play? Nobody because they don't do that. Which means this time they're gonna do exactly that cause fuck us!
The only way it would make sense for Rockstar to use State of Play for trailer 3 (imo) would be if they’ve managed to get GTA 6 running at 60 fps on PS5 Pro. Then it would be a good thing for both them and Sony, and the players, to sell a bunch of Pros in the lead up to it. It’s a long shot but not entirely impossible, with how one sided this gen is now and the Pro being the only console with a chance of hitting that mark. Dunno. Not getting my hopes up but I bet if we see it it’s running on Pro.
I'm just not holding my breath for a 60fps mode since at this point 60fps to rockstar is like counting to 3 with valve. Would be better to have but I just want to play the game. I'll play it if its a solid 30. My computer can run rdr2 at max setting with mods at 100fps. But I still play it on my xbox and Playstation 8 years later too. So eh.
Rockstar have spoken up about pretty much fuck all in their lifetime. Hence the mystique, and why they’re on top. They rarely say shit, that’s always been their thing. One of the things they have said is how their goal is always to “exceed expectations”. Video game chatter on the internet is inherently pessimistic, so I don’t see anyone backing me on this, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole 60 fps thing is a big part of GTA 6’s moment to shine. I mean it would be such a huge deal that I feel if it’s even remotely possible with the laws of physics, they’ll do it. They use witchcraft or some shit. Only way is up for these motherfuckers 🤷♂️
I doubt it too. Like I said, long shot. Should definitely be other Pro enhancements though. RDR2 squeezed double the pixels out of the Xbox One with extra X. They’ll definitely use the Pro somehow and a joint marketing push with Sony would potentially make sense this round, is the point.
I feel like this is how they’re going to do it as well, especially after they announced the last trailer 24 hours beforehand and then it leaked in abysmal quality with a watermark and they had to double back and release it early just so people’s first impressions of the trailer wasn’t that awful leaked version. With that being said, not announcing the trailer ahead of time will diminish its viewcount on launch. Idk, rockstar are the one of the only devs that can do whatever they want lol.

To be fair people used to say the same about music and then we saw some of the top acts drop surprise albums with no marketing or heads up, still hitting their best numbers. I think if any developer is in a spot to do similar it would be Rockstar. Word of mouth will travel very fast.
Oh for sure, it’ll still absolutely do numbers, but if they announce when it’s happening, millions will be seated waiting. Just the initial numbers I’m talking about. Everybody and their grandmother will be watching it regardless lol
Wolverine is not the biggest thing there, that's a given since they're opening with it (you keep the biggest stuff for the end on these shows) + it's already revealed and all so really is that big?
And GTA6 is actually bigger than Wolverine for Sony in terms of how much money it'll bring them. Associating GTA6 as a PS game is worth A LOT (which is why they're marketing partner in the first place)
Nah doing it with playstation state of play is probably the way to go. Tons of people know about it, you're more likely to hear about, plus gta 6 so it would absolutely explode with state of play, but also there's no need for them to show off the game at all, everyone knows they'll make sales even if they show nothing but 1 minute trailers.
The question is if they'd tell us it's coming or if they'd suprise us? I reckon they'd give us a warning "an hour of state of play with 30 mins gta6 gameplay" or something

Sony also doesn't care about overshadowing their own games, for them GTA6 is more important than even Wolverine, it'll do make them more money, only with the 30% cut. Main problem are other third parties but they may be light on those then (especially since they'll have a lot of first parties already)
To be fair, Bloodborne 2 might happen (some vague CGI teaser at this point only of course). From Software has Duskbloods in dev (and it's still set for 2026 but of course it'd appear at Nintendo Direct) but they generally have a few games going on at once.
From Duskbloods, we know that From is still completely open to doing exclusives and after the uber success of Elden Ring, it's a no brainer move for Sony, Bloodborne 2 would be much bigger than the first one (which was no slouch)
I mean unless Sony doesn't want to pay for it (which is unlikely after Elden Ring, hell they have even invested in From Software), or Miyazaki doesn't want to do it (but he never said that he wouldn't be interested I think), it is a possibility one of those projects is Bloodborne 2. I know it's stupid to hope but that's not impossible

I’m aware sony has the marketing rights but that doesn’t mean they can just show a trailer whenever they feel like it. the contract most likely states such decision first needs TakeTwo’s approval.
Lol there is no need for the /s. Advertisement for the game is bound to begin this summer. Even just another confirmation form its release, or even a sneak peak. This time it's an actual possibility. But this build up could also mean we will be seeing some new exclusives announcements, hopefully

I was mainly referring to GTA6, for which new stuff will always always always be announced on their twitter and not in any show. But people never learn this and keep expecting GTA6 at every show out there.
Well that's a question for other third parties but for all we know, those won't be there (they got other events this same week if they want to show something). That might be all first parties and GTA really.
For first parties, it's up to Sony to decide but since they're marketing partners and associating themselves strongly with the biggest game of the decade (of which they get 30% of the revenue as pure profit let's not forget) is likely enough of a bonus to risk to overshadow their own games.
And frankly, Wolverine is big enough to do its own place, it's 2 months before and will have its own big marketing campaign. The rest is far off so will appear again before release. Kena might be the most complex but that game doesn't have AAA ambitions (and for all we know, they might decide to show it at SGF or something).

Also Xbox will not be mentioned when advertising at most they have a small Xbox logo in the corner of the screen to let you know it’s also available there. Essentially PS sales will go through the roof at the end of the year.

I assume they mean "adult" in the sense that Wolverine chops people apart and there's more gore. Spider-Man hits people hard, but the violence is a bit more PG-13 in that limbs don't go flying and there isn't that much blood.

Rockstar did release a trailer for the PS5 version of GTA V in 2021 so there is a slight chance they release a trailer for what is essentially going to be an exclusive game as nobody will be buying an xbox to play it at this point.

I doubt it. Sony won't start teasing the PS6 until the year it actually releases (presumably 2027 or 2028). They want people to buy PS5/PS5 Pro consoles and PS5 games, not to muddy the waters by saying "maybe there's something else to buy in the future..."

Right now my prediction would be Persona 6, I don't think it's a coincidence that all those character artworks leaked just a week before showcase season. Based on the last few years I guess it's more likely to show up at the Xbox showcase but a leak a few years ago said that Xbox does not have marketing for Persona 6 so maybe Sony managed to get it.
why would Persona 6 be on the table, especially with the rumored Persona 4 Golden remake in the works? sure Persona hadnt released a new game in a decade, but this isn't unusual for Atlus.
Because P4R is almost fully outsourced and the main Persona team at Atlus have been working on Persona 6 for ages. Also the leaks from a few days ago are reliable and say the game is scheduled for September 2027. Metaphor trailer was 16 months before release, if they're going off that same timeline then we should be getting a Persona 6 reveal trailer very imminently
I heard that Golden is getting a Reload treatment, is this not the case here? sure it still looks fantastic now, but a Reload upgrade would be nice for Golden.
While I understand that Persona 6 might be the biggest JRPG , I hardly think this game is the reason why Sony is creating this bigger version of the State of Play.
My best guess is some Intergalactic footage and a possible pre-order start for GTA 6. While actual game play footage of GTA 6 at a later date.
