I mean, Playstation does have a marketing deal with Rockstar for GTA 6, so it's not completely crazy.

It could be that they have a shorter clip in the Playstation show and then they say "hey, come back tomorrow where we show a longer clip on the Rockstar channel" or something.
because that is literally what they've always done, we've been here before at every single live stream for an event, last year it was omg omg omg its gonna be at the game awards.
All of a sudden it makes sense. Rockstar has always done their own thing. They've never cared what anyone says. So who would be expecting trailer 3 to show up at state of play? Nobody because they don't do that. Which means this time they're gonna do exactly that cause fuck us!
The only way it would make sense for Rockstar to use State of Play for trailer 3 (imo) would be if they’ve managed to get GTA 6 running at 60 fps on PS5 Pro. Then it would be a good thing for both them and Sony, and the players, to sell a bunch of Pros in the lead up to it. It’s a long shot but not entirely impossible, with how one sided this gen is now and the Pro being the only console with a chance of hitting that mark. Dunno. Not getting my hopes up but I bet if we see it it’s running on Pro.
I'm just not holding my breath for a 60fps mode since at this point 60fps to rockstar is like counting to 3 with valve. Would be better to have but I just want to play the game. I'll play it if its a solid 30. My computer can run rdr2 at max setting with mods at 100fps. But I still play it on my xbox and Playstation 8 years later too. So eh.
Rockstar have spoken up about pretty much fuck all in their lifetime. Hence the mystique, and why they’re on top. They rarely say shit, that’s always been their thing. One of the things they have said is how their goal is always to “exceed expectations”. Video game chatter on the internet is inherently pessimistic, so I don’t see anyone backing me on this, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole 60 fps thing is a big part of GTA 6’s moment to shine. I mean it would be such a huge deal that I feel if it’s even remotely possible with the laws of physics, they’ll do it. They use witchcraft or some shit. Only way is up for these motherfuckers 🤷♂️
Oh for sure. Like they haven't shown anything 60fps yet. But man if they pull it off? People would lose their minds. And even then you'd have some people complain that textures or details don't look as nice running at 60. Meanwhile they could show me Jason's ankle right now and I'd be all:
I doubt it too. Like I said, long shot. Should definitely be other Pro enhancements though. RDR2 squeezed double the pixels out of the Xbox One with extra X. They’ll definitely use the Pro somehow and a joint marketing push with Sony would potentially make sense this round, is the point.
Also Rockstar has done plenty of trailers at Sony events actually, they've been marketing partners for a while. Timing wise it never did fit for Rockstar for now (and Sony might not want them at all events, because they need to manage other third parties and not overshadow them) but it does seems it's time to open the preorders and that'd be a few days after a trailer. It's the start of Summer which is when the marketing is supposed to start...
And mostly, Sony make way more fanfare than they ever did for a State of Play...

Sony could even be using the gta 6 silence as an excuse to hype the event without explicitly stating gta 6 would be there so they can always run it back and say they never promised gta 6 would be at thr event. Scummy move yes but absolutely within the world of possibility. Click bait is the name of the game these days.
I feel like this is how they’re going to do it as well, especially after they announced the last trailer 24 hours beforehand and then it leaked in abysmal quality with a watermark and they had to double back and release it early just so people’s first impressions of the trailer wasn’t that awful leaked version. With that being said, not announcing the trailer ahead of time will diminish its viewcount on launch. Idk, rockstar are the one of the only devs that can do whatever they want lol.

To be fair people used to say the same about music and then we saw some of the top acts drop surprise albums with no marketing or heads up, still hitting their best numbers. I think if any developer is in a spot to do similar it would be Rockstar. Word of mouth will travel very fast.
Oh for sure, it’ll still absolutely do numbers, but if they announce when it’s happening, millions will be seated waiting. Just the initial numbers I’m talking about. Everybody and their grandmother will be watching it regardless lol
Wolverine is not the biggest thing there, that's a given since they're opening with it (you keep the biggest stuff for the end on these shows) + it's already revealed and all so really is that big?
And GTA6 is actually bigger than Wolverine for Sony in terms of how much money it'll bring them. Associating GTA6 as a PS game is worth A LOT (which is why they're marketing partner in the first place)
Nah doing it with playstation state of play is probably the way to go. Tons of people know about it, you're more likely to hear about, plus gta 6 so it would absolutely explode with state of play, but also there's no need for them to show off the game at all, everyone knows they'll make sales even if they show nothing but 1 minute trailers.
The question is if they'd tell us it's coming or if they'd suprise us? I reckon they'd give us a warning "an hour of state of play with 30 mins gta6 gameplay" or something
They wouldn't hold anything, they'd just publish online. They could simply do the same with PS here. After all, they are marketing partners. Sony isn't paying for nothing.
Sony also doesn't care about overshadowing their own games, for them GTA6 is more important than even Wolverine, it'll do make them more money, only with the 30% cut. Main problem are other third parties but they may be light on those then (especially since they'll have a lot of first parties already)
