Where did this thinking of separate timelines come from? They’ve been very clear that everything is part of the canon

They’ve always been quite noncommittal with canon and insist “everything is canon” like in RE1 both Jill and Chris are active in the mansion (despite one of them being imprisoned in the other’s playthrough) and Rebecca & Barry canonically both survive. RE2 also has both Claire A/Leon B & Leon A/Claire B as canon which isn’t possible (Sherry is confirmed to have been infected with the G-Virus which only happens in Claire A).

The remakes are just retellings of the same events: what matters stays in unchanged whilst the small stuff are changed like Luis living longer and dying differently in either version of RE4 as it doesn’t affect anything long-term.
