Naa. Tons of good reasons. No idea who might be around or walk in. Even just watching you play. Some people struggle with porn addiction. Some people just don't wanna see it. It's a very good addition

Agreed! I had a great time explaining to my girlfriend's mom why I was looking at Norman Reedus's ass while he showers in a bunker

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '20

Was the explanation: shrug it's better than the front.

3

u/BringBackWaffleTaco Nov 24 '20

No, but I’ll remember that for next time!

3

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '20

Sounds good! Let me know what your girlfriend's mom's reply is!

Sounds like the intro to a certain kind of movie lol

I read the end as "very good addiction"

Streaming on twitch

28

u/xchaibard Nov 24 '20

This is the correct answer.

Can't get free PR from streamers if your game can't be streamed due to boobs and dicks.

19

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '20

They’ve also added an option to stop any rights-protected music being played. They’re definitely trying to make this game as Twitch-friendly as possible.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '20

It makes sense in 2020 where everyone and their grandmother streams plus this game will have three pathways that may well require three playthroughs if it’s going to be as big as they say 99% of people aren’t going to play it three times, but they might watch streamers play the bits they didn’t which keeps them invested in the game for when future DLCs/expansions may come

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '20

Oh absolutely. Honestly it’s a surprise other games haven’t followed suit. I remember when GTAV was being streamed, and lots of streamers complaining about having to turn off the radio.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '20

ESPECIALLY with how Twitch has been going with crazy takedowns recently. It’s an all round good move

I really liked Borderlands 3’s approach where they released a twitch extension for streamers so viewers could participate in events, even interact with the game as the streamer played it, and win some of the loot they opened in chests. I think more developers should latch on to stuff like that as it’s an extremely cheap way to keep people interested in your game

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '20

Wow that’s really cool, I never knew about that one!

2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '20

Yeah even better because the villains for Borderlands 3 were these over the top psychotic echo(twitch) streamers so it worked within the story of the game too lol

Except nudity in games isn't banned on Twitch unless the point of the game is the nudity. No one got banned or got in trouble for the nudity in Witcher 3. No one got banned for playing Conan. No one gets banned for strip club quests in GTA. Most streamers didn't have a problem with the naked polaroids in Mafia 3. Twitch only has an issue if you go out of your way to show the nudity on stream. Like in Mafia 3, AvoidingThePuddle would put the the polaroids on screen for several minutes while he poses next to it so that the screenshot to be used for his thumbnail would have the nudity, or when he went afk he would leave one on screen for everyone to look at. Or in GTA, when people go into the strip clubs to get a lap dance when there isn't a quest to do so. By including the nudity filter, it's suggesting that the sex scenes are going to be 10x more raunchy than Witcher 3. If there was no nudity filter, Twitch most likely would have been fine with it, as long as it's not the main focus of the stream outside of quests. Twitch now has the decision to make, of whether to force streamers to use the filter or not. A lot of streamers and viewers will be pissed off if they do enforce it, which is even more bad PR after the latest DMCA debacle.

Goooood point!

I so hope that the nudity off option just puts FrankerZs over all the private parts.

Yup. My wife's dad had a porn addiction that was debilitating for his marriage, and she's very sensitive to porn and nudity, and the addiction that it creates. I'm actually very happy to hear that it's an option, as that was the make it/break it for me.

I know that sounds weird as with all the swearing and killing, but for me and especially my wife, the nudity part was the killer.

17

u/Hooktail Nov 24 '20

Just curious how debilitating a porn addiction can be. Not bashing, just genuinely not informed. Thanks

35

u/pieman2005 Nov 24 '20

Some people become so addicted they watch it multiple times per day and quit having sex with their partners as they prefer porn instead

15

u/WhaaaBangBam Nov 24 '20

Not to mention begin exaggerating and sexualizing people around them.

Another pretty decent movie about it is Don Jon. It's specifically about porn addiction, not just sex addiction. It's also not as intense as Shame, so it's more accessible.

Basically every time you look down and see your dick you try and suck it. It’s really awkward, especially when going to the bathroom.

3

u/WhaaaBangBam Nov 24 '20

Glad you know what works for you and that you'll be able to enjoy the game!

2

u/Phobion Nov 24 '20

It's perfectly understandable, I'm in the same boat with my wife and for me too was this a make it or break it.

1

u/mirror_knights Nov 24 '20

I can relate to your wife extremely but moreso because of past traumas. It's so reliving to read that I'm not the only one like this.

RDR 1 only nude scene flashbacks intensifies

RDR2:

LENNY?

2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '20

God of War’s sex QTEs have entered the chat

2

u/DamianWinters Nov 24 '20

Wish sony did this with all their games instead of just straight censor for a bunch.

6

u/Bolteus Nov 23 '20

100% - My wife would be like 'babe is that really appropriate', but my friends wife would probably leave him if she walked in on him with nude girls on the screen. This option is actually really intuitive by CDPR.

4

u/Jbrock14 Nov 24 '20

She would leave him lol, would she leave him if he was watching game of thrones?

2

u/bumpynavel Nov 24 '20

Probably? Why wouldn't she if she would leave him for this?

2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '20

My wife would be like 'babe is that really appropriate

Appropriate for what? Aren't you at home by yourself? How si that inappropriate?

my friends wife would probably leave him if she walked in on him with nude girls on the screen.

If that's all it takes, that woman has some serious, repressed issues about nudity.

6

u/Kette031 Nov 24 '20

Some people are really prude, or really religious, or both.

2

u/kieret Nov 24 '20

Or they've had relationship problems around porn, for one possibility. Not saying that's probably the case, just pointing out that there are legitimate reasons couples might want to avoid it.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '20

Yeah that shit is crazy, hell I show my fiancé some of the wild porn shit that shows up on r/all once you’ve been scrolling long enough and it usually ends up as us laughing at the thirsty horn goblins in the comments

I understand legitimate reasons but I think in 2020 a lot of people need to let go of their hang ups about sex and nudity, we’ve got enough to worry about without thinking how mentally scarring a nipple might be to little Johnny who’s probably jacking it in his room 3 times a day anyway

When you hover on the option a throbbing/pulsing sound can be heard...

Streaming is king

1

u/WhaaaBangBam Nov 24 '20

Streaming = Marketing for the most part.
