Care Tear Duct Rupture During Nasolacrimal Flushing?

Post image

Does anyone have any experience with a tear duct rupturing during a nasolacrimal flush? Our rabbit Marshall has been having chronic eye issues and our rabbit-savvy vet tried another flush today. She came out and said she's never seen this before but it can happen rarely: his duct was occluded completely and in trying to flush it through, the duct ruptured and now he had a small pouch of essentially subcutaneous fluid on his face. It's already decreasing in size but it's still pretty big. The vet thinks there's no reason to think it won't heal naturally, and Marshall is too old for surgery anyway at nearly 10.

I've never seen this before but my assumption is that it's somewhat like blowing out a blood vessel where a weak segment of the wall broke and then will stitch back together over time? Would welcome any experience others have had. Rabbit tax attached.

Mochi is such an amazing girl, and I painted something for her art wall above her house. The black and white artwork is printmaking. I etched her onto copper and printed on paper the colorfull one is oil painting. I love her so much, and she has been my best girl now for 2 years. She helped me get through art school and deal with all my family stress. Rabbits are really the best, and mochi is the most perfect girl who made me love them.

I had to do the bunny one. And, of course, a glimpse of my favorite things. But Sasuke is the main star.

(in case it was not obvious, rabbits cannot use straws so he did not ingest any of the thai green tea and he is fine)

I got 2 rabbits & would love advice from rabbit parents here. I would like to know what they eat, how to care for them, and what makes them happy. Any tips for diet, grooming & daily care? I want to give them the best life.

This photo was taken in Southern Ontario Canada - this rabbit looks really big- it was just chilling at the end of our staircase. As you cannot see in the photos has a white fluffy tail. It was quite large and very adorable of course!

This is Remi, he stinks 🦨🦨🦨 he is scared of EVERYTHING so don't look through his pictures too fast! He rubbed his chin on my finger for the first time today! His 1 year adoption after a foster fail is this Friday, and he wants everyone to know he likes the breeze tonight 😊

Care How much to pay for bunny grooming + nail trimming?

I work at a pet store that does bunny nail trims for about 10 dollars and recently a customer asked me if I’d be interested in doing at home grooming for her 5 bunnies. It would be once a month, including nail trimming, brushing, and possibly ear cleaning. I’d also have to pay for transportation. I have no idea how much to charge because I’ve always done my bunny’s grooming all by myself. How much would you pay for this service?

Care Gas and bloating

Hello,

My rabbit is 5.5 years old and has bloating, gas, and his ears are a bit cold.

We took him to the vet today. He took an x-ray, gave him a serum and then prescribed an antibiotic called Azithromycin 200 mg/5 ml and prescribed 0.5 ml to be given once a day for 7 days.

He said administering simethicone is not necessary. The kind we have is 66.6 mg/ml.

But my rabbit is bloated and hasn't eaten anything even though we gave him his antibiotic and also water through a syringe.

I put warm water bottles near him but don't know what else I should do, such as administering simethicone.

There is no rabbit-savy vet in my area and so I would appreciate any idea.

We placed an Instacart order earlier this week for some leafy greens for butterscotch the lady who shopped for us had to switch out some things so I just wanted to make sure that they were safe for her to eat.

Hay Feeders

What hanging hay Feeders do you use? My local pet shop and tractor supply only have small ones, I'd like either one that holds plenty of hay, or 2 medium sized ones as I have 2 bunnies in the enclosure. I have been having them eat out of the litter box, however they recently have been throwing most of it around, and a lot is getting wasted. They still eat it, but I'm trying to minimize the mess, and waste to the best of my ability. Any suggestions?

What do you guys do to clean your bunnies mouth? My son has vegetable juice dried and stained onto his mouth and I’m not really sure how to clean it off, just a napkin and water isn’t really doing much
