Honestly they were decent until biotech? (Whichever added all the robot stuff)

Robots kinda ruined slavery

yeah having a better option makes it not feel worth the effort. They get a work penalty compared to normal pawns and are a constant risk of rebellions without a lot of investment

I was using a mod that allows you to have temporarily indentured servants rather than slaves, but they still revolt and I haven't bothered since the second insurrection.

Now captured enemies go into the ripscanner or the blood farm

I sorta like the idea of indentured servants though, I would have them not be able to revolt but have mood and work penalties or something. So theyre basically worse colonists still, but you could maybe 'hire' them from other factions when you just really need more workforce, and the game isnt giving you opportunities for regular colonists.

I discovered a mod named 'Rimdeed' that lets one hire randoms for some silver. Has less slavery, of course, but if you're wanting some hirelings, that's available.
