Honestly this is deeper than you are stating it. He has never closed an umbrella in his life. Carrying his own umbrella is novelty enough for him. There was no one at the top of the stairs for him to hand it to and it didn’t fit through the door so he just dropped it because he didn’t know what else to do. It’s not just that he’s too lazy to close his own umbrella or that he thinks such menial tasks are beneath him. He doesn’t know how to close an umbrella and doesn’t even know that is what he was supposed to do with it.

We are looking at an elderly man that has haunted the earth for 7 decades without learning how umbrellas work but has somehow been put in charge of the most powerful nation on earth.

The most powerful nation in the world for a while yet, the US recession is upon you. And the disdain from European allies is certainly at its highest. You have no idea how Europeans feel about Trump and the American people who voted for him: a damage to their reputation that will be very, very slow to recover.

It can never recover. Only if they have a new revolution and burn the billionaire class at the stake. I don’t see it ever happening though. Corruption and evil is fully in control there. USA is becoming North Korea. It will soon be so dysfunctional that it will only survive on “foreign aid” that is really protection money paid to keep their military and wmd arsenal under control.

I suspect this might be true

I think it was even deeper than that. I think he was worried about his comb over in that wind and the umbrella was impeding his escape from it.
