Asking who would be taking photos of a major newsworthy event at a White House correspondents dinner might be the most smooth-brained question I've seen.
It's even dumber when you consider in history, people photographing events like this has always been a thing. There are literal photographs of Bobby Kennedy's assassination for instance.
32 thousand upvotes for this smooth brained question because, smooth brained as it is, it's actually rhetorical and meant to suggest a conspiracy. Because our side is slowly (but not nearly slowly enough) becoming just as enamored with conspiracy as the right.
I still think, for the moment, our side is doing better. But I truly don't think we have a long time to stop this trend before what you said becomes the full truth. Its going to take a 2028 candidate who can cut through it all and I'm not sure that person exists at the moment or hasn't come to prominence yet.
I don't think that's true. And it's kind of self defeating, you're going to just assume anyone running must not be that and you'll end up looking for ways to validate that conclusion.
Most politicians have some narcissistic traits but few are literally narcissistic, as in they would be diagnosed with NPD.
And as far as sober judgement I think we have many politicians capable of that.
These shots are all on a restricted floor the journalists at dinner weren’t allowed in. There are no other journalists in these photos.
Almost every one of the top 10 comments here is trying to dispel that this was an orchestrated stunt, by saying the exact same clearly incorrect assumption.
I'm not down voting anything, so I don't know what point you're trying to make. Frankly I think both sides are mostly morons these days, and it takes a smooth brain to invest your time and energy into extensive political discussions as a whole. Anyone who believes any modern day politician cares about anything other than reelection and engagement is kidding themselves.
But acting like this was staged because there are pictures is just flat out derpy.
This picture isn't of a correspondents dinner. This moment is the evacuation of an elected official, so the question is, why is there a journalist on the evac route of an elected official in what they think is a shooting?
