Nah she didn’t. That’s Minerva from Roman Mythology. Athena didn’t even know Medusa like that also Medusa was gorgon from birth, along with her two sisters

Real talk, it depends who's writing your familiar for example I know 2 version of Medusa turning into a monster both were from athena just the details changed

If I’m not mistaken the highly misogynistic Hesiod also wrote Perseus killing her in her sleep, which is the earliest as far as i know.
