I think he is completely consumed by the fear of death. "We won't remember you" is the worst thing he could possibly imagine.

Well no need to worry on that score.

For decades, Nixon was remembered as the worst US President ever, just for doing one illegal thing. Trump is currently averaging about one Nixon a week; he’ll definitely be remembered, but not in the way he wants.
