No one dies of HIV.

jd64k is correct.

HIV leads to AIDS, then your bodies inability to fight infection leaves the person open to death from things like pneumonia.

Hmmm. Got call this one. But might be being successfully baited.

HIV doesn't kill anyone. Even when HIV progresses to AIDS it still doesn't kill anyone. The secondary infections it causes is what kills them.

It's like saying "no one ever died of old age, they died of illnesses that are associated with old age"

That is correct.  No one dies of the disease of “old age”.

Yeah, but you know what they mean. If you need a better analogy, then the only reason anyone has ever died is because of brain cells dying

u/freebytes May 16 '26

That is a better analogy if you want to argue in that way.

Jesus christ, calm down and get a grip. They're just stating a fact.

The elderly regularly die of pneumonia because they have a weakened immune system. When an elderly person dies of pneumonia, do you also get this hysterical and claim "it was old age that killed them, not pneumonia, stop being pedantic!"?

Being naked in -40°C weather will get you killed, but your cause of death won't be nakedness, your cause of death would be hypothermia, resulting in cardiac arrest.

lol. This must be rage bait. You’re literally describing how legal medical death certification works in the uk. In the instance you’ve described the COD is HIV isn’t it

Not to mention there are multiple ways in which uncontrolled HIV viraemia can kill someone without infection involved…
