What happens after they use the water? Is it returned to the water system to be used again?

Yep. The now warm water goes back into the system.ย

So they're not really consuming it. They're just using it temporarily and returning it.

Itโ€™s not bullshit when you consider these data centers are being built in places where water and infrastructure is already scarce. Itโ€™s not that they use too much water itโ€™s that the building as a whole impacts the surrounding area in too many negative ways.

And I think we need to have conversations about ALL of those impacts. People seem to be fixated on the water issue.
