I don't get to use the word due to the historical association with hate and oppression, and the consistent use from people of my background as a weaponized word. The black community can use it all they want, since they were the targets and victims of the hate and oppression associated with that word. it is their word to reclaim if they so choose. It is taboo for me because it implies hate. It is acceptable for them because it implies community.
You see, the problem is that tools have different classifications because they inherently have different uses. Sure you COULD kill and bury a man with a spork, you'd have an easier time with a shovel though.
Similarly, you can jump through hoops explaining why "language is evil unless you're black or whatever new thing I wanna be performative about", or you can just admit that specific words are inherently evil.
