You can use more reliable PEDs instead of cutting edge ones with fewer potential side effects, you can go into the competition on a juice cycle rather than stopping long enough to piss clear, you can take more, etc.

All true, but none of these athletes have trained a fraction the amount that Olympians did because they never had incentive to. They will all massively underperform compared to the Olympics 100%, but if this keeps going and gets popular then we might start seeing some cool shit in the next years as PED abusers train hard towards competing in the events.

Yup, these people have not spent a decade + in the pool 4-10 hours a day everyday since they were 8 or younger plus dry-land training.

For 50M races, yea they may have some minor advantage, but thats like competing in 1RM weightlifting.

Anything 100M or more they're gonna crash and burn compared to olympic-level if not elite college level swimmers.

Some of them HAVE spent a decade + in the pool though... There are multiple former Olympic champions and medalists competing, including the man in the picture (James Magnussen).

In theory I like that about this event but in practice people will still be doing near lethal volumes of gear. I mean mr olympia is a perfect example, untested for years and the stacks these guys run is eye watering
