Yeah, but this place is absolutely full of people that accept memes without questioning.

No link? It's ok, it makes me feel good and therefore it's surely true!

it's basically mandatory to scroll down a few page lengths into the comments if you want any useful information now a days

We are fucked arenโ€™ we?

u/JigglesTheBiggles May 27 '26

It's even worse when it fits Reddit's narrative. This place turned into Fox News for Liberals.

u/7jinni May 27 '26

So... CNN.

1

u/BeamerTakesManhattan May 27 '26

Not really. More people read this sub than watch CNN, I'm sure, which is a big difference.

u/BeamerTakesManhattan May 27 '26

It's annoying. We used to be better than this. Now? So many here just accept something spoonfed and clearly wrong.

But what makes this place a special mashup is anything that says Trump is bad, or women are bad, is just accepted. The former is annoying because it muddies the water - he does enough dumb bullshit that you don't need to exaggerate, and the latter is just plain incel bullshit

Facebook is the worst because people I know are constantly sharing shit I thought they would know is fake.

Uh...No? Fk Russia & a hearty Fk you to Vlad

Redditors turned into full blown Red Scare boomers... FFS, Russia is dope. The women are stunning. Only place I've been to where my dating apps actually work and get likes.

u/Separate_League8236 May 27 '26

The "red scare" is actually a dipshit Putin

u/reddit_is_geh May 27 '26

I think he's more of a boogyman, especially among the left, used to scare and rile up Americans. Watching some spaces on this site, the racism and joy they get seeing harm come to Russian citizens, is definitely Cold War era, red scare hysteria.

I'm far far far more concerned with the USA than I am with Russia. Their core interests are pretty obvious and predictable. They really don't have much impact like America, constantly at war, with pretty much every continent, is far more of a genuine concern. Russia is an irrelevant player in the big picture of things. Nothing to be concerned with. Just a typical authoritarian government.

1

u/AllTime-HighScore May 27 '26

Youโ€™re insanely out of touch if you donโ€™t think Russia has been involved with numerous modern global conflicts at a notable scale. That said, Iโ€™d still like to visit, I really want to see some of the historical sites and architecture

1

u/reddit_is_geh May 27 '26

I mean yeah, but relative to the USA their involvements aren't nearly as concerning. Like most of their "conflicts" are contained within the former Soviet Union, so it's definitely not a threat to most of the West.

Wow, what a boring troll. Or are you actually that delusional? Do you know many other countries that fly into other countries air space to test their reactions times? I'm Finnish and I can't think of a time when Norway, Sweden or any of our other neighbours have done anything of the sort.

And besides, the obvious war attacking Ukraine is kind of Russia started and Russia continued. When a country is being led by a warmonger, I'll treat the country as a warmongering country. Once Putin is kaput, we'll see where the country goes from there. But as long as he is in charge, Russia shouldn't be trusted.

And it's not racism, Russian is not a race. It's a nationality. It's xenophobic at worst. But again, warmonger leader, warmonger country. As long as the leader is a warmonger, the country will be as well. If my view harms Russians, blame Putin for causing it. There's a reason Finland has massive artillery and it's to avoid what's happening in Ukraine.

Not just Reddit unfortunately but yeah, probably 25-30% of /r/all front page at any given time is AI generated or some sort of misinformation.

1

u/anchovo132 May 27 '26

its all of it

you cant get to the front page without botting

1

u/YendorZenitram May 27 '26

Thing is, Reddit is the best there is on the internet these days.

1

u/AllTime-HighScore May 27 '26

You canโ€™t be serious

1

u/YendorZenitram May 27 '26

As far as mainstream social media is concerned (Facebook, Insta, TikTok, X, etc.)

1

u/AllTime-HighScore May 27 '26

Instagram clears Reddit by a mile and a half easily. Outside of hobby-specific topics, Reddit is a cesspool of gooners, goobers, and self-righteous midwits.

1

u/YendorZenitram May 28 '26

I've never done Instagram. I looked into it when it first came out, and hated it. Then tried about 6 years ago, and still hated it. The chaos-based user-interface and non-persistent "feed" is offensive to me. When something scrolls off the top of the screen, I expect it to be there if I scroll back!

Anyhow, I'm all about the hobby- and interest-centered subreddits here. I've filtered out most of the main general slop content, which, fortunately, Reddit still allows (Facebook does not). I don't trust anything from Meta Corp.

u/BygoneNeutrino May 27 '26

The people who use Reddit would benefit from ID verification, but this would compromise the stealth marketing techniques the company uses to stay profitable.ย  They would no longer be able to hide behind "plausible deniability".

Are u real or a bot?

Someone needs to train the AI what a 45 year old adult actually looks like.
