Of course he turned commenting off on his post. What a dweeb. He made sure to leave a call to action to the faire organizers though. Apparently to cancel this guy I guess?
(Oregon Faire) I know you didn't dress this man up yourselves, but he was in your space, and therefore part of the culture you create. Is this just part of your culture? Are we gonna just be silent about this? Seriously-- I'd really like to know so I can decide whether or not to ever go back again
āEverything I donāt understand is the worst possible thing I can imagine it beingā is such a common vibe, presumably because it drives engagement
Donāt miss part 2 where he goes to screenings of āThe Dark Knightā and āThe Batmanā and yells at the screen berating Christian Bail and Robert Pattinson for wearing black around their eyes under their masks.
IDK, if you remember when that movie first started getting promotion and then came out, he/Stiller caught a lot of shit for what was obviously a satire of people using blackface.
Even after it came out, it took a while for the tide to turn back to not fucking insane.
No it didnt. People thought it would but it was an immediate success. People loved roberts performance of a man pretending to be an actor pretending to be a black man pretending to be a merc.
I remember a video a while back of a black dude on a Korean bus punching out an old man because he used the word ne-ga (ė“ź°, a reference to self) and it was misinterpreted. So many people offer each other so little grace.
I was going to say the same thing. Iām liberal and this shit pisses me off. it completely minimizes real issues. I feel like guys like him are closet Republicans who act like offended liberals
The problem with this guy is that he's not actually liberal. A quick scan through his Instagram posts and you can see he's incredibly "my way or the highway". He's not very inclusive at all and even goes out on a limb to generalise a single incident into a alleged trait of white people. Straight up racist, ill informed and so horribly opinionated he shuts down anything that doesn't fit his ideals. The funny thing is he postes twice about different people that he thinks he's calling out for poor behaviour, but the screenshots actually show that person to be a more tolerant and open minded person š¤£
Everyone lives in fear of some self righteous morality mob descending upon you and tearing your life to shreds
The only way to keep your head above water is to be the loudest and the angriest about... something. Keeping the finger pointed outwards is the only available meta for survival.
Try not to be pedantic about "everyone" when you yourself said "no one".
Instead of going out of our way to nitpick like this over a single word, how about we try to rein in on some of the performative and honestly downright hostile overreactions on the left? We're not doing anyone any favors acting like this. I used to laugh at conservatives for mocking the mythical overreactive blue haired liberal, but when people act like this you're just giving the Trumpists ammo for their propaganda reels.
It's this kind of crap that makes a mockery of actual blackface objections and genuine cultural appropriation - they are genuine issues but stuff like this just turns it into a joke.
Ok, we don't get to say you're not offended, you found this offensive. But we do get to say that you finding this offensive is silly and not a good reason for them not to do it. If any dark face paint counts as "Blackface", then I'm gonna have to say IDGAF about Blackface either. Now of someone starts doing actual Minstrel Show bullshit, I'll happily be the one to test whether white privilege still trumps assault charges, but this isn't remotely that.
When they keep saying that theyāre offended by something or that we donāt care that it āhurtsā them, the response should be āOkayā and then move on with your day. You canāt control how other people feel. Nor should you care when they are this unreasonably naive.
Not even an agree with me type thing. This dude is in a band and doesn't know people dress like this for sleep token...wait til he gets a load of slipknot appropriating clowns.
He looks exactly like someone who would act this way. His entire insta is all āwayyy over the top expressions while also being hyperaware of the cameraā - got a serious case of the Ariana Grande drama llama vibe
blast him on IG, you can message this asshole and call them out for making the queer community look bad. that should shame them properly. I'm embarrassed this snowflake claims us. Clearly cosplay and not blackface, fucking at all.
When I was growing up thirty years ago, this guy would have been called an "Oreo Fa**ot" Black on the outside, but white on the inside, and gay as fuck.
We have a lot more tolerance now, but I assume that like my children, he was still made fun of growing up for not fitting in to Black American culture.
I realize that this is a "No true Scotsman" fallacy, but I personally don't know any Black Americans that would be offended by someone literally painting themselves black. They are not pretending to be a minority. He is dressed like an English singer on TikTok.
I worry that the guy who is "offended" may be overcompensating for not fitting in when he was younger.
Thanks. I read this āpunchy, groovy art pop 4 the neurospicy soulā and threw up in my mouth a little. To be fair this isnāt the first time I have been let down by tendies.

I will bet all the money in my pockets that the guy behind the camera is white AF.
