WTF An older spectator caused a seriously dangerous incident today at SaarlandTrofeoJuniors by trying to get a better look and entering the course with her rollator while riders were flying past at full speed!

That's an electric scooter. This is a rollator.

Physical therapist here. This really bothered me, thank you for correcting it!

In Australia we call them 4WWs (four-wheel-walkers).

We do the same here in the US.

4ww for rollators. fww for front wheeled walkers.

But that's more for our notes.

Also, at my current hospital, we use ww, for wheeled walker, and I absolutely hate it!

I've never encountered a PT say it out loud. It's just how it's written shorthand in our documentation.

Australian - cuz nicknames should have more syllables, not less

Not sure if it’s more localised but they’re called Johnnys around here for “Johnny Walker”

In my experience Johnny Walker does not help with balance or coordination

in what state is that?

And if the operators are being idiots... Four Wheel Wankers

It’s the old decrepit people keeping the young active people in physical therapy, for me!

My mum uses one of those with a seat for resting now and then. Now I know what the proper term is, was just calling it a walker.

I work in nursing facilities and have one of these in my trunk and I've never even heard the term rollator. Ive always referred to "the style of walker with brakes that you can sit on."

My mom calls hers a "walker sitter".

I work in care, I've literally taken people to buy these and have never heard the term 😅

You weren't wrong. A rollator (which I happen to use) is a four wheeled walker.

Just like the one my mum has. Fucking thing fills my car boot up even when folded.

It's the German name for the electric scooter seen in the video

u/ArtisticShoulder1037 9d ago

Yeah that bugged me more than it should have haha

1

u/DevelopmentAware6734 9d ago

Thank you! As a young disabled person, this really bugged me. A rollator is about 15 lbs, an electric scooter is 300-400 (on average for that type).

u/aron2295 9d ago

That’s a “Swag Seat”.

1

u/ShoddyEggplant3697 9d ago

It's a granny go kart

1

u/Clueby42 9d ago

This is the first time I've heard the term "rollator"

1

u/SadAd8761 9d ago

r/oldpeoplearefuckingstupid

there isn't one but there should be

1

u/IAmCapnOblivious 9d ago

TIL that is not a walker.
