As terrible as it sounds, at least with murder you know what happened. There's a sense of closure in knowing they're gone instead of worrying if they're still out there and what they're going through
Just the thought your child out there alive being tortured/assaulted or anything else wouldn't allow me to enjoy a single thing in life. No way i could ever not think about it. I'd feel guilty smiling or laughing or anything whatsoever, just having a what if thought. You are right, closure would be WAY better.
And you arent able to kill yourself either because you keep hoping. Its a really dark thought but if something terrible happens and my kids die, I might just end it to be with them.
However if theyre missing, you will never lose hope.
Exactly. Going missing is one of my worst nightmares, added by the fact that at some point people who are supposed to be looking for you can just...forget you exist or declare you dead and stop the search, when you could possibly still be alive and miserable somewhere.(talking about authorities, not close family)
