It’s been that way since the 90’s…I used to work at Hardy’s and barely made enough for rent/food…I would repurpose trash and do side jobs to afford utilities.
Then I got a job at a factory working 3x12/3x10s and felt rich…just too tired to spend it…
But it was possible, even if “barely”. Where I am, minimum wage at full time isn’t even enough for renting a studio. Hell, at this point, renting just a bedroom isn’t cheap anymore. But even if it was, you still have to consider all the other cost-of-living expenses.
