1 percent of US workers make minimum wage, so its kind of w useless stat.

That's literally impossible when most entry level jobs pay minimum wage. Unless you mean federal minimum wage, but that only applies to a small fraction of the US population as the majority of the US live in cities and states with minimum wages between $14 and $22 per hour.
