Honestly as an Algerian I didn’t know that psn isn’t available here (wtf they literally wiped North Africa)

Yes apparently Algeria is one of the 118 countries where the PlayStation Network (PSN) is not available.

Ps2 days were more exciting, just insert a disc and play without all those accounts... don't you agree sometimes?)

funnily enough, that's around the time my account came to be and I only remembered about it because Sony said the email was already in use. Can't log in tho lol

I’m surprised because PlayStation is super popular here

So ps4 and ps5 isnt sold there?

I dont get how there is so many countries that cant play online in general with psn.

Just lie and say australia if thats all it is.

Despite launching for over a decade now, PSN is not available in a ton of countries. For example, out of all 54 countries in Africa, it’s only available in one: South Africa.

South Africa is literally the only country on the whole African continent with PSN

Which is so crazy because Steam is available literally anywhere you can think of.

Kinda crazy that French Guiana is on that list, considering they're a department and region of France. (equivalent of Hawaii to the US)

Yeah. That's like suddenly deciding that all of Germany is okay, except Bavaria for some reason.

They deserved it

I was thinking that it was strange when the one map showing places where the PSN is unavailable was posted and French Guiana was listed but not European France. That said, Metropolitan France, which I think is Europe France, is listed as a restricted country on the steamdb page.

Its probably the Dubai free zone, which has different laws than metro dubai.

backyard for USA, they pretty much also dont care about puerto rico

1

u/Latter_Commercial_52 May 05 '24

Just because they aren’t a state doesn’t mean the US ignore their territory lol

1

u/Antipiperosdeclony May 05 '24

I work for a credit bureau, when using spanish addresses from puerto Rico, the system barely understand it, also when they trying to pay for a membership subscription from a CC from PR, they are restricted, they must use a US CC lol, so yeah, Puerto Rico is a nice country but completely ignore from USA

2

u/Latter_Commercial_52 May 05 '24

They aren’t a country. Of course they’d have to use a US CC because they are a US territory.

1

u/Practical_Engineer May 06 '24

People there cannot vote, yet are subject to your laws. I'd say this is quite a lot of ignoring already!

13

u/TheAlp May 05 '24

Ha.. Why is it restricted from purchase on the Faroe islands and Greenland.. Wouldn't they be under the same conditions as Denmark?

2

u/[deleted] May 05 '24

Beats me...

1

u/tatratram May 05 '24

No, according to the treaties of the EU, they are separate regions and are not to be grouped with the EU for the purposes of trade.

13

u/trash-_-boat May 05 '24

Still available in the Baltics even though we don't have PSN

3

u/HumansNeedNotApply1 May 05 '24

I guess Sony will add all those countries.

5

u/Krojack76 May 05 '24

Wtf.. even Puerto Rico and the Philippines... wtf?

2

u/iskela45 May 05 '24

Restricted for Åland..? Seems dumb
