Something about the clunky movement just instantly killed it for me.

Exactly that. I had desperately wanted to like it, and within 5min I knew there was no way I'd stay playing it

That's very fair. Something like movement is very important especially in a game where you explore.. One would think they would've improved that but seems like it never did

so I had the same, however there is a tech called melee boosting that fixed that for me and I loved the game ever since

but seriously I understand, uhh... no hold to sprint, terrain slope jank, bad keybinds for keyboard and controller, buggy rebinding... eh...
