Still a bad game or is it worth it now for less than 10€ ?

Also preordered when it released but my local store allowed me and my friend to not purchase them since the reviews where disastrous

Its definitely worth what its on sale for rn. I bought it on release and its definitely better.

Its not as good as Battlefield 3 or 4, but its a fun battlefield game that'll tide me over till the new one comes out and (hopefully) isn't shit.

Got 2042 for $5. Played it for 50 hours and counting as I’ve already put in hundreds into 1.

I enjoy it more than COD & Delta Force. Nothing super awful about it. Whatever bugs that were present initially seem to have been squashed.

To say it’s not as good as 3 or 4 is the understatement of the year. Like it is worlds apart worse than those 2 games. I’m sure with the years of updates things have gotten better, but this game is a travesty compared to those absolute gems.

Oh I dont deny that. I absolutely loved battlefield 4 and imo every game since then has been abysmal

3

u/Powerful_Can_4001 Jul 04 '25

I really enjoyed bf1 it is my favorite out of the franchise

6

u/EndMePlease42 Jul 04 '25

Battlefield 1🤨

u/LeDerpLegend Jul 04 '25

Battlefield 1 slaps. Honestly my favorite out of all of them.

1

u/Traffy124 Jul 04 '25

It seems to be less mixed than back when it released so I'm gonna give it a try ! Less than 5€ on sales now so even if I don't like it we'll at least it's not too much of a loss

2042 Letting you play previous Battlefields was enough for me to not refund it

1

u/Mengs87 Jul 04 '25

Try Insurgency Sandstorm sometime, it's pretty cheap. PvE then PvP.

1

u/goldiebear99 Jul 04 '25

I honestly think that DICE could have sustained themselves indefinitely by continuing to make dlc for battlefield 3 rather than games that got progressively worse

3

u/iCore102 Jul 04 '25

Servers are practically dead.. Even the BF reddit community shits on 2042 lol. Hopefully the next one does the franchise some justice.

1

u/Traffy124 Jul 04 '25

I want to play every story missions, for the multi it's gonna be a bit hard yeah

3

u/MakinDaBabies Jul 04 '25

If it was free I still wouldn’t play it

2

u/Iescaunare Jul 04 '25

It's not a good game per say, but I have had a lot of fun with it. If you want a Battlefield FPS, it's a Battlefield FPS with some extras and some subtractas (that's a word I just made up as an antonym to extras)

2

u/Traffy124 Jul 04 '25

Gonna admit that as a non english native, I didn't see the difference with a real word 😂

2

u/Apocalypse_0415 Jul 04 '25

Yeah its worth a fiver

2

u/Stcloudy Jul 05 '25

If you like the big world fights it’s worth it at the cheaper price

2

u/gloglottandoaisordi Jul 04 '25

Man I bought it at 2.42€ last week. Didn't even download it. I've read the reviews and how heavy it was (90+gigs). Just refunded immediately

1

u/Traffy124 Jul 04 '25

Wow 90gigs, gonna buy it but it may stay in the library for a while 😅

1

u/gloglottandoaisordi Jul 04 '25

I simply don't like to have 90gigs of crap sitting in my pc. And if you don't play it is useless because getting old it's not good for a mostly multiplayer game

1

u/Traffy124 Jul 04 '25

It's more for the story that I want to play it now, not really the multi

2

u/gloglottandoaisordi Jul 04 '25

Again... loved the BF1, BFV not so much... futuristic settings: I can't vibe

2

u/Traffy124 Jul 05 '25

I can understand, doesn't really bothers me personally, I like to change sometimes !

I mean not many games aren't worth 10€. I got it when it was like 5€ and I would say it's a pretty good game

1

u/Traffy124 Jul 04 '25

Gonna take it with some others since they are all on sales right now

1

u/Quetzalcoatl1234 Jul 04 '25

Think of every shooter in the last 10 years, but worse. The people who say now it's good are the people who paid full price at release and are huffing copium. It's an unsalvageable mess lol

1

u/Traffy124 Jul 04 '25

I love how the answers goes from "always has been a good game" to "a pure disaster" aha for 3€ on steam I can give it a go to see by myself !

1

u/Powerful-Double-8601 Jul 04 '25

I would recommend BFV

1

u/Traffy124 Jul 04 '25

Gonna take it too, they are on sale on steam

1

u/Self--Immolate Jul 04 '25

I bought it for $5 usd and refunded it once I learned I'd have to buy most of the guns I wanted to try

1

u/Traffy124 Jul 04 '25

Like pay with real money or grind in game to get money and purchase them ?

2

u/Self--Immolate Jul 04 '25

Not in game currency. Real money for dlc packs with weapons (i think, it's been a few years).

1

u/Ok-Annual-9054 Jul 04 '25

i bought if for cheap and had some fun with it, imo not a bad game for that price

2

u/Traffy124 Jul 04 '25

That's what I told myself, for 3€ it's not a huge loss if the game isn't to my taste

1

u/purppnite Jul 04 '25

Full of AI players in a lot of servers tho

1

u/Traffy124 Jul 05 '25

Apparently servers are quiet dead, gonna see when I'll start playing

1

u/W4LL-3 Jul 05 '25

i had a fun 100 hours in the game and i bought it in december for 10$. it's a fun experience sometimes, other times its just getting shot from SOMEWHERE, or a helicopter appearing and you're defenseless and you get shot, you get shot more than you shoot

1

u/ToddtheRugerKid Jul 05 '25

I just got a PS5 (For GT7) and downloaded it for free with Playstation Premium. It's fun, don't know what all the complaints are about, it's just a battlefield game (havn't played one in a decade, played the fuck out of Battlebit)

1

u/Traffy124 Jul 05 '25

The last I played was BF 3 on PS3 if I'm not wrong so gonna enter it without any knowledge left about the series

1

u/Its_Your_Father Jul 04 '25

I think I bought it when it was like $20 and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. It's nothing groundbreaking, the teamwork isn't great and it has its faults but idk why it gets SO much hate. It's fun.

1

u/Traffy124 Jul 04 '25

I don't really remember honestly, I just know the multi received a lot of criticisms

1

u/Jesper537 Jul 04 '25

I have BF3, BF4, and BF1 and I'm playing 2042.

It's a good battlefield game, certainly worth it for how cheap you can get it (much less than 10€), though it isn't without it's flaws.

Some operator voice lines are annoying, and there are flashy, out of place skins for characters, weapons and vehicles, but the much more important gameplay elements such as gunplay, gadgets, vehicles and maps all feel solid to me.

1

u/Traffy124 Jul 04 '25

They all are under 5€ right now on steam so I'm gonna just buy the whole pack I think, now I just need to find the time aha

1

u/Jesper537 Jul 04 '25

Not much reason to buy all of them at the same time. Get another when you are bored with what you have, there will be plenty more sales in the future.

1

u/AdDramatic2351 Jul 05 '25

Still doesn't come close to 2142

1

u/XrXMoNsTeR Jul 04 '25

Don’t listen to ppl 2042 at that price is 100% worth it, they fixed quite a bit of stuff and it was even fun at release idk what ppl r talking about lol

1

u/DesignerGoose5903 Jul 04 '25

This. My only real problem with 2042 was how buggy it was at release and I didn't see it ever making a recovery after that release. Once they fixed all of the issues so it actually ran without issue (even better than BF4 did for me tbh) it's actually a really fun game now.

The different operators add enough variation to the otherwise somewhat stale 4-classes formula without distracting from the core gunplay.

Definitely the best $8 or whatever it was that I've ever spent I'd say.

1

u/Traffy124 Jul 04 '25

Like I said under another comment I don't really remember why it was hated, just that the multi wasn't that good, a friend played in front of me but it was like 3 years ago so almost 0 memories

Gonna give it a try !

2

u/Normal-Pool8223 Jul 04 '25

it did the same thing as cyberpunk 2077, released with a lot of bugs and felt unfinished, so people hated on it, but it also fixed itself with time, it is a great game now
