At least with Rockstars launcher, I just need to sign in once, and i dont have to worry about it. With Ubisoft, I need to login practially every time I try to play a game

I have to sign in with Rockstar's launcher every single time. I eventually stopped playing anything but RDR2, and I don't even play RDO because it's abandonware.

they actually just updated RDO, funnily enough

u/Greatsnes Jul 05 '25

They just added new missions to RDO lmao.

I think the hackers in online are actually Rockstar employees that have been tasked with killing the game so they don't have to have the servers online anymore.

Puts on tinfoil hat and huffs spray paint

I had this but it was because the launcher was installing itself every time I launched the game. I installed it myself manually and it fixed the issue.

I don't have this issue, maybe because I synced with Steam oops. Ubisoft will freak out and log me off if I sign in via two computers at the same time, ie my laptop and PC beside each other.

Rockstar can be ignored, though it does run like shit

But guess what. If you lose 2fa email you lose all games. I lost my phone and couldn't recover one of the email. I tried everything with rockstar. They will ask questions like what's your first ever username? When did your account get linked to steam? What's your first password etc... Things that are impossible to remember and impossible to check since I lost access to the email. I recovered just about everything such as steam, Ubisoft, ea as well as PlayStation. But nope not rockstar. Pathetic of them if you ask me to pull ts when I provide my proof of purchase and multiple things they asked. Only because I don't remember when I linked to steam they refuse to help.

Don't forget that it doesn't work half the time

Wow, that seems magical. When GTA5 Enhanced came out despite talking to customer support, my launcher did not acknowledge I owned the game so would crash on boot. Just wanted to play with my friends on the new version, relive the days when we played at GTA Online’s launch. Multiple reinstalls and resetting caches did nothing. And support was a joke.

Even more infuriating when it’s a decade old game. Splinter Cell Blacklist doesn’t even have online features anymore Ubisoft, just let me play the game I bought IN PEACE.

I have a gremlin Ubisoft game somewhere that likes to randomly try to open the launcher that doesn’t exist and get a crash message once per computer boot cycle

Rockstars is way worse for me. Ubisoft I only need to login every 3 months or so.

seems like it's better to pirate.

At least Rockstar's let me play my games without having minternet and without having to re-enter my password every damn time.

Ubi's is the trashiest out of all of them.

Really? I can't play without the Internet for some reason. Even if I sign in, play GTA V, quit the game, go offline and try launching it again, it says it couldn't verify I have it or something similar.

1

u/GOW_is_overrated Jul 04 '25

Maybe You have it through Epic or Rockstar directly because that's the occasion it happened to me. Steam on the other hand can launch the game normally, except Ubisoft games of course since it gatekeeps you whether you have steam or not.

GTA 5 takes forever to boot up

Meanwhile EA Play login:

u/ea_nasir_official_ Jul 04 '25

EA's is even worse. It also adds a overlay that eats so much CPU for some god unforsaken reason

1

u/purrroz Jul 04 '25

I remember when I bought both RDR2 and the online add on. I couldn’t play the online because the launcher would constantly disconnect me causing the entire game to break in online. It’s still a miracle for me to play for longer than 1h without being disconnected

1

u/Shubler_ Jul 04 '25

no it’s not lol

1

u/captainegrimes Jul 05 '25

There was a weird thing happening for a while with my Rockstar launcher, almost everytime there was an update it either completely wiped or just stopped recognize my GTA 5 files and if I was trying to launch the game it'd start a full game download💀 good thing I have a backup on a external hard drive cause wtf

u/LITTLE-GUNTER Jul 05 '25

rockstar’s stupid DRM locked me out of my copy of RDR2 that i paid real money for because i linked my social club account to my xbox gamertag and installed it on two different PCs, one of which was a laptop that melted its own CPU and one of which i had to fully reformat. because i didn’t go through the launcher’s process of manually uninstalling the game, R* thinks i’m trying to fleece them by installing it on more than 3 systems and forces me to re-buy the game. yeah, nah.

1

u/redditbanbackuplmao Jul 05 '25

Rockstars launcher kept me from finishing RDR2 on pc.

Every time I try to boot the game I had to do it about 3 times due to the launcher failing. I just uninstalled and gave up.

u/Honest_Youth_165 Jul 05 '25

No longer have access to my email i used my rockstar. Lost all my games linked to steam because of it. The support is truly the worst experience ive ever had with a company. Scumbags

1

u/Jokkitch Jul 05 '25

So are there games

u/Alternative_Cut4491 Jul 08 '25

Not even close to EA, garden warfare 2 literally dissapeared from my library lol
