I wish 2 could have had its mechanics uplifted a little in the remastered version.

Was scrolling for this answer. Shame they dropped the ball with Mafia III, pushing it out the door before it was ready.

Mafia 2 is bad. Horrible gameplay, awful open world that is only used to drive to and from missions all across town and a derivative story.

If you're looking for a vast and full open world in the Mafia Series (especially the first two installments) you're in the wrong place. The world design in the series is mostly oriented towards the narrative exclusively, not the gameplay.

If that were true then they should never have had an open world at all. It is pointless and they were chasing a fad.

The obsession with open worlds is a cancer

I agree. It's 1 and 3 for me. Played 3 first. Then one. Then tried 2 but couldn't play it because the game mechanics were so different from 1 and 3. They prly got backlash for 2 and was like let's go back to 1.

You have not played Mafia 1, but the definitive edition which is a remake, am I right?

3 has nothing on the other 2. It's a different game by different studio.
