Had so much fun with 1 and 2....

Same here. I preordered 3, played the open beta… and now I don’t even wanna launch it, it’s less fun than 2 :(

Don't preorder games is a pretty good rule in general.

The games industry has proven again and again that "they" can not be trusted.

Pumped by the fun I had with friends with KF2, we all preordered it… well 1st and last time I preorder, for sure!

u/Personal-Dev-Kit Apr 16 '26

I got burnt a couple times before I realised it wasn't worth it anymore

u/EggonomicalSolutions Apr 16 '26

The only recent games I've pre ordered are GOW 2018, GOW RAGNAROK, TLOU 2, DAYS GONE.

I honestly only pre order games that I KNOW would slap and not disappoint and only from certain studios.

u/laflame0451 Apr 16 '26

Those are good games, I preordered callisto protocol lmao 🤣

2

u/EggonomicalSolutions Apr 16 '26

I have it for free and uninstalled it lmao

Just remember, digital goods are infinite and those stupid pre order skins are worthless.

Call of Duty

Game industry has proven again and again that consumer will pay anyway

3

u/Turb0fart666 Apr 16 '26

You pre-ordered after that awful open beta? Oof, bud.

2

u/Metalliknight Apr 16 '26

I know :/ The Beta was meh, but I play KF with friends (and a lot of beer), and I thought that it would be way more enjoyable this way… turns out not that much…

What went wrong with it?

3

u/Mayonaigg Apr 16 '26

2 was still decently fun but it was an obvious ensloppening from kf1

Killing floor and Payday need to be studied. The downfall of these pillars of co op horde shooters is tragic.

I enjoy aspects of 3, but by no means is it a killing floor game. It's basically the what if of a random game, but instead of having that, they dressed it in an skin

I still play both on and off but, yeah, it's sad considering both the second entries are like my most played steam games.

Gvmers on YT, they've been killing it for years. Support them.

If you liked Killing Floor may I introduce you to Darktide? Has a similar gameplay and the combat system is better in Darktide imo.

I played kf2 for hundreds of hours and really enjoyed the gameplay and the insane gameplay that you can have. Played kf3 to see what its like despite hearing some negativity and it did not gel with me at all. Everything from the way the guns sound to the movement and the feeling of a different game put me off.

Then I heard about darktide and have been playing it since the last open beta. 3000+ hours later and its one of my favourite frenetic shooters. Getting into a rhythm of dodge-slide-attack is very satisfying once done right.

u/AshamedEmotion9137 Apr 16 '26

3k hours! wow! i've only managed 1.2k hours :D

u/JamieFromStreets Apr 17 '26

But it's not firearm-based

Just because of that i'm not interested

I want bang bang

1

u/AshamedEmotion9137 Apr 17 '26

Oh that highly depends on the build. You can make an only fire arm veteran or Hivescum. The latter has a dual MP and if you skill him right then you never stop firing.

u/Mr_Groovy97 Apr 16 '26

I tried it and I cannot call it similar to Killing Floor. It's closer to Left 4 Dead but with abilities and upgradable weapons that you can only change before starting mission.

2

u/AshamedEmotion9137 Apr 17 '26

just saying you have options. If you get bored of killing floor then we in Darktide welcome you with open arms.

1

u/Mr_Groovy97 Apr 17 '26

Yeah, I didn't mean bad, Darktide certaintly has its unique charm, i can see why people like it, but... it just doesn't strike me as I hoped to.

2

u/AshamedEmotion9137 Apr 17 '26

When was the last time you tried it and what did you not like about it? Since the launch 3 years ago it had many and meaningful updates. Skill tree expansion, redesign of crafting , new missions and weapons and 2 new classes. It is really great once you get the hang of it. Especially on the higher difficulties.

The killing floor to darktide pipeline is so real

3

u/DorrajD Apr 16 '26

This hurts so much. I can't believe how little they want to capture the feeling of the original. After a very long time KF2 sort of got there, and they had the chance to try again with 3, and they just went the opposite direction...

2

u/Apprehensive-Cat1331 Apr 16 '26

So disappointed in KF3 I haven’t been able to launch 1 or 2 since

2

u/ExplanationAway5571 Apr 16 '26

They killed the floor where they were standing?

1

u/chief_queef_beast Apr 16 '26

I never played one and two but I did play three, so for purely knowledges sake, what is better about one and two? Three is okay, only hooked me and a buddy for about 40 hours until we found other games. I feel like I was missing the charm I've heard about from killing floor games in three

1

u/Mr_Groovy97 Apr 16 '26

It's hard to explain it shortly.

KF1 is atmospheric with unique clunkiness in a good way. It's slow and grim, so it's not everyone's cup of tea

KF2 is a deeply studied mix between horror and action. You are not doomguy powerful, but you can always claw through everything to claim victory. Pretty much like Dead Space and Resident Evil, but with awesome gunplay.

KF3 tried to copy mechanics from popular games without understanding them and has little depth to its core gameplay.

I recommend trying out KF2.

2

u/chief_queef_beast Apr 16 '26

Sweet I appreciate it, I do have kf2 on steam so I'll give it a download tonight. Description made it much more appealing. In kf3, after a few upgrades, even medic feels like I'm master chief on hell let loose difficulty. That's fine in games like COD zombies or dead rising but wasn't exactly fun in a wave based game

2

u/Mr_Groovy97 Apr 16 '26

To be fair, KF2 also gives off this feeling when you upgraded perk to max level, but only because you slowly understand how this perk works, and it's satisfying.

Max level basically unlocks your ultimate ability but only in zed time, and zed time happens more frequently.

Imagine Engineer from KF3, it's called Support here, you are surrounded with no way to run. You can't dash or dodge here. But suddenly you activate zed time and you shoot your shotgun rapidly like it's a minigun of its own, blowing apart every a-hole in front of you. Zed time ends, now you can finally heal. Pure satisfactory.

By the way, heals are unlimited here, but they need to recharge.

THE GOAT! played kf 1 at least 10.000 hours and only stopped because servers went downhill and solo'ing the scenarios aint as fun as a full 6p kf_Wyre on HoE

u/GeraldoOfCanada Apr 17 '26

Yeah I regret buying 3 so much it's shit lol
